AI video logging that labels your clips by wedding moment
AI video logging software does the job an assistant editor used to do by hand, watching every clip and writing down what is in it, before you sit down to edit. Hailo gives every main camera clip under your length limit a wedding moment label and a plain sentence on what is in the shot, tells the couple from the guests, and keeps every correction you make.

What logging means in a wedding edit
Logging is the old assistant-editor job: watch each clip, note what is in it and tag the scene, so the editor can find the kiss without scrubbing through two hours of ceremony. On a wedding it rarely happens. Nobody has time to watch a full day twice, so culling in video editing turns into scanning thumbnails late at night and hoping.
That is what AI video logging software is for. With AI footage logging the watching is done when you open the project, and your job becomes checking the log, not writing it.
A moment label and a sentence on every sorted clip
Every main camera clip under your length limit gets the moment it belongs to: prep, first look, ceremony, portraits, reception, speeches, dancing, details or establishing, with finer sub-moments when you choose them. Each moment carries its own color onto your timeline in Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, and Final Cut Pro can color each part of the day by role, so the day reads at a glance.
Each card in the clip grid also carries a one-line description of what is in the shot. Find Moments looks inside clips for key moments such as the kiss, the ring and the first dance entrance, and lists where each one starts.
AI video logging software that knows who is getting married
Hailo works out who the two people getting married are and uses that to tell couple shots from guest shots across the whole day. It costs no tokens, and it errs on the side of caution: a silhouette, a back to the camera or a drone pass keeps the label it already had.
Where camera roles come up, they carry the couple's real names, so a camera reads On Cami, not bride or groom. That wording would be wrong at a wedding with two brides or two grooms, so Hailo does not use it anywhere.
Fix a label once and it stays fixed
Hailo will get some labels wrong. Click the moment badge, or right-click the card and choose Change moment, and pick the right one. One click commits it. The badge gains an outline so you can tell your corrections from Hailo's, and the timeline re-exports in the background, so your editor's next import already has the change.
Your correction survives every later pass, every re-run and a full re-analysis, including one you make mid-run. To see why a clip got its label, right-click it and open Why Hailo labeled this: the reason, how sure Hailo was, and where the shot might work. On a rehearsal dinner the picker offers that day's own set, as the multi-day page explains.
What gets logged, and what is left alone
Only folders labeled Main footage are watched clip by clip, which keeps the token quote to your highlight cameras. Long-form ceremony and toast takes, drone, action camera and audio folders skip it, and you set those labels when you drop the wedding folder. Nothing is renamed or moved: this is an AI video file organizer that leaves your files exactly where they are.
Long takes can still be named. Turn on long-take naming and Hailo looks at every long take as well, and the quote shows what that adds before you start. That option, and how the labels feed your selects, is on the selects page.
How you use it in Hailo
- On the folder review screen, set your highlight cameras to Main footage.
- Choose the moments to track, plus the finer sub-moments if you want them.
- After the run, read each card's moment badge and description in the clip grid.
- Right-click a clip and choose Why Hailo labeled this when a label surprises you.
- Click a wrong badge and pick the right moment. The timeline re-exports on its own.
- Re-import the timeline in your editor to see the corrected label.
Questions filmmakers ask
What is logging footage in video editing?
Logging means watching every clip and recording what is in it (the scene, the people, the usable moments) so the editor can find shots without scrubbing. On big shoots an assistant editor does it. Hailo does it for wedding clips: each one gets the moment of the day it belongs to and a plain sentence on what is in the shot.
Can AI tag video clips automatically?
Yes. As AI video tagging software built for weddings, Hailo tags every main camera clip under your length limit with the moment it belongs to and a one-line description, and knows which shots hold the couple. The tags are parts of the day, not a list of generic objects. Action camera folders are labeled Action Camera without being watched.
How accurate is AI clip labeling?
Good enough to start from, never perfect, and Hailo is built on that assumption. It reads a Western-shaped wedding day well, labels a day confirmed as the Haldi, Mehndi or Sangeet on an Indian wedding as that event, and has no labels yet for other ceremonies such as a tea ceremony. For any clip you care about, Why Hailo labeled this shows how sure it was, and a wrong label takes one click to fix.
Can I correct a label the AI got wrong?
Yes, in one click. Click the moment badge, or right-click the card and choose Change moment, then pick the right one. The badge gains an outline, the timeline re-exports on its own, and the correction survives every later pass, every re-run and a full re-analysis. Hailo never asks you for a reason.
Does AI logging work on long takes?
By default, long takes skip clip-by-clip labeling: a full ceremony or toast file is one moment from start to finish, and they stay available for the ceremony and speeches films. If you want them named anyway, turn on long-take naming and Hailo looks at every long take. The quote shows what that adds before you start.
