Before the wedding

A wedding videography shot list you write once and reuse

A wedding videography shot list keeps you and your second shooter on the same plan when the day starts moving fast. In Hailo you build one from ready-made sections or paste in the list you already use, copy it for each couple, and print it as a clean PDF checklist.

A sample wedding videography shot list

Here is a starting point, organized by part of the day. It is not a rule: every couple, venue and timeline changes what matters, so cut what does not fit and add what does. Read it as a set of must have wedding video shots to adapt, not a script.

For a film, sound belongs on the list too. Plan where your recorder or lav goes for the vows and the toasts before the day, not during it.

  • Getting ready: the dress or suit hanging, rings and shoes, the last button, a parent seeing them dressed, and each partner's nerves or laughter.
  • Details: the invitation suite, florals, the venue's exterior and one wide that sets the place.
  • First look: the walk up from behind, both faces at the turn, and a wide that shows where they are.
  • Ceremony: the processional from the front and the back, a wide of the officiant and couple, each partner close during the vows, the rings, the kiss and the recessional.
  • Family portraits: the moments between the posed groups, like grandparents arriving or a parent fixing a collar.
  • Wedding party: walking together, the inside jokes, and one shot of the whole group.
  • Couple portraits: slow walks, close moments with their own words if they talk, and the last light of the day.
  • Reception details: the room before guests walk in, the tables, the signage and the cake.
  • Toasts and dances: every speaker, the couple reacting to the lines that land, the entrance, the first dance, parent dances and a full floor.
  • Sendoff: the exit, the guests lining it, and the car or the walk away.

Build yours from sections or paste it in

Hailo's shot list builder starts from those same parts of the day. Click + and pick a pre-filled starter (Getting ready, Details, First look, Ceremony, Family portraits, Wedding party, Couple portraits, Reception details, Toasts and dances, Sendoff) or a blank section, then type shots one per line.

If your list already lives in Notes or a document, paste the whole thing into one shot: twelve lines become twelve shots, with bullets and numbering stripped. Drag sections and shots to reorder them, or move a row with the arrow keys on its grip handle. Deleting a section offers Undo, Collapse all folds a long list onto one screen, and everything saves as you go.

One master list, a copy for each couple

A wedding videographer shot list works best when it fits the couple in front of you. Keep one master and duplicate it for each wedding, then edit the copy for their day without touching the original. The list page shows every list's sections and shot counts, sorts by recently edited, name or most shots, and searches every shot line, so typing vows finds a list whose title never mentions it.

Much of what goes on a couple's copy comes from their own answers: the people who matter most, the surprises, the songs. A wedding questionnaire collects those before you sit down to edit the list.

Print it for your second shooter

Download PDF turns any list into a print-ready wedding videography checklist: the list's name, each section and a tick box beside every shot. That one file is your wedding videography shot list PDF and your second shooter shot list, so print a copy for each camera.

Hailo has one login per studio, so a second shooter does not get an account of their own. The printed checklist is what they carry. The times for the day live on the wedding record, covered on the wedding videography timeline page.

If you came looking for a wedding video shot list template or a videography shot list template to download, Hailo does not hand out a file. The section starters are in the app, where they become your own list the moment you edit them.

Questions filmmakers ask

What shots should a wedding videographer get?

The moments a couple will want to relive, from getting ready through the sendoff: the details, the first look, the processional, the vows, the rings and the kiss, the portraits, every toast, the first dance and the exit. Add the people who matter most to that couple, and plan sound for the vows and toasts. The sample list on this page is a starting point to adapt for each wedding.

What is a wedding shot list?

It is a checklist of the moments and details you plan to film, grouped by part of the day, so nothing important is missed and every shooter knows their job. In Hailo it is a set of sections with shots inside each, which you keep as a master, copy for each couple and print as a PDF with a tick box beside every shot.

How do I share a shot list with my second shooter?

Print it, or send them the PDF ahead of the day. Hailo turns any shot list into a print-ready checklist with every section and a tick box per shot, so your second shooter carries their own copy. There is no second-shooter login, because each Hailo studio has one account, so the PDF is the way to hand it over.

Can I print the shot list as a PDF?

Yes. Click Download PDF in the builder or on the list's card and you get a print-ready checklist with the list's name, each section and a tick box beside every shot. Duplicate the list first if you want a version tailored to one couple, then print that copy for each person filming.
