A ShootProof alternative for wedding videographers

A ShootProof alternative is worth a look once the work you deliver is wedding films. ShootProof gives photographers online galleries, proofing, a print store, contracts, invoices and booking, and it now hosts and sells video on every paid plan. Hailo is built for the filmmaker: 4K film galleries with upsells, a CRM shaped around wedding bookings, and the footage tools that sit between the card and your editor.

What ShootProof video covers

Before you line up ShootProof competitors, it helps to know how much ShootProof already does with film. It added video hosting and selling and includes it in every paid plan, so a studio already there can store, deliver and sell films next to its photo galleries. Paid plans also list unlimited galleries, slideshows and reels, commission-free selling, international print labs, multiple brands and users, and no ShootProof branding.

The business side is there too: digital contracts, invoices with autopay, deposits, installments and tipping, and booking with questionnaires and Google Calendar integration. For a photographer who shoots some video on the side, that covers a lot of ground in one place.

The front office, built around a film booking

Hailo covers the same ground with a filmmaker's season in mind. You get an inquiry form you design and embed on your site, an auto-reply in your words, and a pipeline that reads New, Contacted, Booked and Lost. Couples browse your investment guide, pick a package and add-ons, then sign and pay the deposit through one booking link that also carries the questionnaire.

Payments run through your own Stripe or Square with retainers, payment plans and automatic reminders, and Hailo takes no cut of what couples pay you. Venmo, Zelle, check and wire are recorded when they land. Email goes out from your own Gmail or mailbox, replies land on the couple's record, and automations stop the moment a person writes back. Shot lists and a client portal round it out.

From memory card to delivered film

The biggest difference is everything before the gallery. Hailo starts when the cards come out of the cameras: every card offloads at once, checked file by file, and nothing on a card is ever changed or renamed.

Then it labels every main camera clip by moment, from prep to the open floor, and a label you fix in one click stays fixed on every re-run. It trims shaky footage at a strictness you set per camera, and trimming costs nothing. Ceremony and toast cameras sync with every lav and recorder, both films come back cut as real multicams, and everything opens in Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve in four ways to organize.

The last step is a wedding video delivery platform: a 4K gallery with your splash and music, a personal note, vendor credits, a Google review prompt and upsells, published from the same project the couple booked through.

Is Hailo the right ShootProof alternative for you

Hailo is one of several ShootProof alternatives, and it is the wrong one if you deliver photos, sell prints, run more than one brand or need a login for each person on your team. Hailo has no photo gallery or print store, one login per studio and no website builder. Its footage side is a Mac app for Apple silicon on macOS 14 or later, while Manage and Deliver open in any browser.

Hailo galleries also have a set lifetime: each one closes a year after its newest film upload, with extra years available when a couple wants more. If your business is wedding films and you want the inquiry, the edit prep and the delivery in one app, that is the job Hailo was made for.

Moving from ShootProof to Hailo

  1. Bring your client list in as a CSV through the Spreadsheet / Other import, and confirm each column in the preview.
  2. Set up your catalog of packages and add-ons, so proposals and gallery upsells share one price list.
  3. Connect Stripe and your Gmail or other mailbox, so couples pay you directly and replies land on their record.
  4. In the Galleries list, click New gallery for your next delivery, and drop in the 4K film.
  5. Add your upsells, then publish and send the link from Hailo. The project marks itself delivered.

Questions filmmakers ask

Does ShootProof work for wedding films?

Yes. ShootProof hosts and sells video and says that is included in every paid plan, so you can deliver a wedding film there. Its galleries, proofing and print labs are built around photos. If films are all you deliver, and you want the booking, the footage prep and the delivery in one app, that is where Hailo differs.

Can I move my ShootProof clients into Hailo?

Yes, if you have them in a CSV, though not through a ready-made ShootProof import: ShootProof is not one of the tools Hailo has a column map for. The Spreadsheet / Other path reads any client CSV and lets you confirm which column is which before anything is saved. Every number in the preview comes from your own rows. See importing from another CRM.

Does Hailo have a print store?

No. Hailo has no print store, no proofing and no photo galleries, because it delivers films. What it can sell from a gallery are the add-ons in your catalog: raw footage, an extra edit, a parents' cut, an album or a USB. The couple buys on the page through your own Stripe account, and the order shows up in Manage.

Can couples buy extras from a Hailo gallery?

Yes. Pick items from your catalog in the gallery's Upsells panel and each gets a Buy button on the page. Checkout runs through Stripe on your connected account, so the money goes straight to you, and the couple lands back on their gallery with a confirmation. You get a notification, and the order keeps the name and price from the moment they paid.
