Deliver the film

Wedding videography upsells the couple can buy from the gallery

Wedding videography upsells have the best chance on the day the couple watches their film, and in Hailo that is where they sit: on the gallery, under the film, each with a Buy button. Raw footage, an extra edit, a parents' cut, a USB or an album comes straight from your catalog, and the couple pays by card through your own Stripe account.

Wedding videography add-ons worth putting on the gallery

The best wedding videography add-ons are the ones a couple only realizes they want after they have seen the film. Some of the extras filmmakers offer on a gallery:

  • Raw footage for couples who want every minute, shaky bits and all.
  • An extra edit: a longer cut, a parents' edit or a short film for social.
  • An extra film you shot but did not include, such as the full toasts.
  • A USB or an album as a keepsake they can hold.

Do wedding videographers give raw footage?

Some include it in a package, some sell it as an extra, and some never release it. Each is a defensible choice. Raw footage shows everything the edit leaves out: missed focus, guests talking over the vows, the camera swinging to the next shot. A couple asking for wedding video raw footage may really want something narrower, like the unedited toasts or the full ceremony, which you could offer as an extra film instead.

Selling raw footage as a paid upsell lets the couples who want it buy it without making it part of every package. Whichever way you go, write down in your contract what raw footage includes and what it does not, and have a lawyer in your state review that wording. Hailo runs the checkout and records the order; you deliver what they bought the way you already deliver files, and the order sits on their record in Manage so nothing slips.

Prices come from your catalog, so they never drift

Your wedding videography upsells are pulled from the same catalog of packages and à la carte items your proposals use. In the gallery editor, open Upsells, click + Add from catalog, search and pick. The price on the gallery is always the price in your catalog, and there is no custom row to fall out of date. To build that catalog, see the investment guide and package catalog.

Each row has a description box for what the extra includes and why it is worth adding. What you type saves to the catalog item itself, so the same words follow it onto proposals and every other gallery. If you delete or deactivate an item, its row tells you so, and you swap in a current one.

How the couple buys from the gallery

The couple clicks Buy, a Stripe checkout page opens with the item's name and price, and they pay or cancel. Either way they land back on the gallery with a short message saying what happened. You get a notification, and the order appears in Manage on their record.

The money goes to your Stripe account; Hailo does not hold it, and Stripe's card fees apply. The order keeps the name and price from the moment of purchase, so a later catalog change never alters what they were charged. Buy works on a published gallery that has not closed, and on a password-protected one once the couple is past the lock screen. If Stripe is not connected yet, the couple sees a note that you are still setting up payments, and connecting Stripe fixes it.

Timing your wedding videography upsells

Delivery day is the obvious moment: the couple has just watched the film, and the extras are right there under it. The gallery keeps working for you afterwards too. Every time a lifecycle email brings them back, for the 30-day check-in or their first anniversary, the upsells are still on the page.

How you use it in Hailo

  1. Add each extra to your catalog in Manage as a package or an à la carte item, with a price.
  2. Connect Stripe under Settings and Integrations.
  3. In the gallery editor, click Upsells, then + Add from catalog, and pick the extras for this couple.
  4. Write a short description for each one; it saves back to the catalog.
  5. Publish. The couple clicks Buy, pays by card, and you get a notification with the order in Manage.

Questions filmmakers ask

Should wedding videographers give raw footage?

There is no single right answer. Including it can win bookings from couples who ask, while selling it keeps your packages simpler and pays you for the time it takes to gather. A middle path is offering it as a paid add-on, with clear contract terms on what it includes. In Hailo that add-on sits on the gallery with checkout, so couples can buy it after they have seen the film.

How much should I charge for raw wedding footage?

Price it from the work and the cost involved: gathering and exporting the footage, the drive or delivery it goes out on, and how much of the day you shot. Look at what you charge for an extra edit as a reference point. Hailo does not set or suggest a price; whatever you put in your catalog is what the couple sees on the gallery.

What add-ons can wedding videographers sell?

Common ones are raw footage, an extended or documentary edit, a parents' edit, a short social cut, an extra film such as the full toasts or ceremony, and keepsakes like a USB or an album. In Hailo any package or à la carte item in your catalog can go on a gallery as an upsell, with its price and description kept in sync.

When is the best time to upsell a wedding film?

Right after delivery, while the couple is watching. That is why Hailo puts upsells on the gallery itself instead of in a separate email. The gallery stays up for a year after its newest film upload, so anyone returning to it later, from a check-in or an anniversary email, finds the extras still there.
