An Instagram posting plan made from your own weddings

An Instagram posting plan works best when it is made from work you already have. In Hailo you answer three questions, and it lays out the next four weeks of posts around your own couples and wedding dates, so you open the app knowing what goes up this week.

Why plan from your own weddings

Search for Instagram post ideas for wedding photographers and you get lists that could belong to anyone. A filmmaker's best material is narrower and better than that: the couples you shot this year and the dates you shot them. The trouble is rarely a lack of footage. It is finding a quiet hour in wedding season to decide what goes up next.

A blank Instagram content plan template leaves that hardest part to you. Hailo starts from the other end: it already holds your couples and their wedding dates, so your Instagram posting plan arrives with names and dates in it, and your job is to adjust it rather than invent it.

Three questions, then an Instagram posting plan

You answer three questions. From your answers Hailo picks one of its four built-in plans and fills the coming four weeks with your own couples and wedding dates.

None of it is fixed. Move a post to another day, change what it is, add one Hailo did not suggest, or delete one that does not suit the week. Laid out this way it reads like an Instagram content calendar, except the squares are already filled with weddings you shot.

This week, on your dashboard

You do not have to go looking for the plan. The Instagram card on your dashboard shows this week's posts and what is coming next, so it is in front of you every time you open Hailo.

Once a planned post is on your Instagram, it checks itself off. That turns the plan into a record as well: at a glance you can see whether you kept to your Instagram posting schedule or let a busy week slide, without logging anything by hand. Posts also feed the posting part of your Momentum score.

Hailo plans the posts, you publish them

Hailo never posts for you. It does not publish to Instagram and it does not schedule posts to go out on a timer. You post from Instagram the way you already do, with your own caption and your own edit, and the plan notices when it is up.

That is a deliberate line. If you want an Instagram post planner that publishes automatically, keep one for that job and use Hailo to decide what to post and to see that it happened.

Connecting your Instagram account

Instagram only allows this connection for professional accounts, business or creator. A personal account will not connect, so switch the account type in the Instagram app first if you need to. Then open Settings > Integrations and click Connect Instagram; sign-in happens in your browser, and when you come back the tile shows your handle as connected.

Posts sync on their own after that, and Sync now checks right away. Instagram's access lasts 60 days without a sync. Hailo's own syncs keep it fresh, so a reconnect usually only comes up after Hailo has been closed for a couple of months, and the tile tells you when. Your Instagram handle on proposals and galleries comes from your studio links, not from this connection.

How you use it in Hailo

  1. Make a posting plan by answering three questions. Hailo picks one of four built-in plans and fills the next four weeks.
  2. Move, change, add or delete any post until the month looks right.
  3. Check the Instagram card on your dashboard for this week's posts and what is next.
  4. Post on Instagram yourself, as you always do.
  5. Connect Instagram under Settings > Integrations so each planned post checks itself off once it is live.

Questions filmmakers ask

How often should a wedding videographer post on Instagram?

Pick a number you can still hit in your busiest month, because a feed that goes silent in October undoes a strong spring. Hailo plans in four-week stretches, so you commit one month at a time, and the dashboard card shows how this week is going. Planned posts check themselves off as they go up, which makes a slipping pace easy to spot early.

What should a wedding filmmaker post on Instagram?

Your own weddings, and the couples in them. That is the material only you have, and it is what a couple looking at your feed wants to see. Hailo's plan builds every week around couples you filmed and their wedding dates, and you change, move, add or delete any post until it matches the films you actually want to show.

Can I schedule Instagram posts from Hailo?

No. Hailo plans your posts and never posts for you: it does not publish to Instagram or schedule anything to go out on its own. You post from Instagram as usual, and a planned post checks itself off once it appears on your account. If you want automatic publishing, keep a scheduling tool for that part alongside Hailo.

Do I need a business Instagram account?

You need a professional account to connect, and either kind works: business or creator. Instagram does not allow this connection for personal accounts, so switch the account type in the Instagram app before you connect. Once connected, your access lasts 60 days without a sync, and Hailo syncs on its own, so reconnecting is rare.
