Deliver the film

4K video hosting for wedding films, streamed and downloaded

4K video hosting for a wedding film has one job: the couple should watch and keep the same picture you exported. In Hailo you upload a 4K export to the couple's gallery, and they stream it and download it in 4K. What they watch is what you delivered, not a squashed copy of it.

What 4K video hosting should do for a wedding film

You graded and exported a 4K wedding video, and then it travels. A messaging app or a social upload shrinks it, a shared folder gives the couple a file but no player, and a general host plays it on a page that has nothing to do with their wedding.

A delivery gallery is how to share 4K videos without losing quality. The couple opens one link, the film plays at the best quality their connection can carry, up to 4K, and the full-quality file is one click away when they want to keep it.

How to send a 4K video without losing quality

Export from Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve as H.264 or HEVC at the resolution and frame rate you edited in. A ProRes or DNx master is for your archive, not for delivery: an H.264 or HEVC export at the same 4K frame keeps the quality the couple can see at a fraction of the size.

A single film can be up to 30 GB, and a two-hour wedding film exported that way usually lands between 8 and 20 GB. Hailo checks the size the moment you pick the file, so you find out before an hour of transfer, not after.

A film counts as 4K when the frame is at least 2160 pixels tall, which covers UHD (3840 by 2160) and DCI 4K (4096 by 2160). Hailo never upscales: a 1080p export stays 1080p, and its card says so plainly.

4K video sharing the couple can stream and download

On the gallery, the player starts at the quality the viewer's connection can carry and steps up from there, with a quality control for anyone who wants to choose. When the couple clicks Download, a sheet lists every film with a checkbox, and films with a 4K copy carry a 4K tag.

A Quality menu offers two choices: 4K, full quality, large files, which is your original export as uploaded, or HD 1080p, smaller, faster. Files save straight to their downloads folder, named after the couple and the film. On most looks, downloads are a per-gallery choice, and you can make a gallery stream only; see passwords, expiry and downloads.

The best way to send large video files to clients from a slow connection

Big uploads are built for venue Wi-Fi. On a slow link the transfer slows down rather than failing, and after a dropped connection it picks back up from where it was instead of starting over. Uploads keep running while you work elsewhere in Hailo. Quitting Hailo does stop a transfer still in flight, so leave the app open until it finishes.

Once the upload is done, Hailo prepares the film for playback, and that part carries on even if you close the editor. The film joins the page only after its full-quality copy is ready, so a couple never hits a film that will not play. Like any 4K video hosting, it has a size: each film counts toward your plan's monthly delivery allowance, set out on the pricing page.

Read the 4K line on every film

Each card in the Films panel carries one line that answers "why isn't this 4K yet" without anyone looking it up:

  • 4K ready: the couple gets 4K playback and a 4K download.
  • Preparing 4K with a percentage: the upload is done and the film is being made ready.
  • high-quality version ready: the best copy is live, but the source was below 2160p.
  • 1080p film. 4K isn't made for this one: you exported at 1080p. Export again at 4K and upload that.
  • 4K failed with a reason: upload it again, and contact support with the reason if it repeats.

How you use it in Hailo

  1. Export the film as H.264 or HEVC at 3840 by 2160, or your camera's 4K frame.
  2. Drop it into the new-gallery wizard, or into the Films panel of an existing gallery.
  3. Keep Hailo open until the uploads pill in the top bar clears.
  4. Wait for the film's card to read 4K ready.
  5. Publish and send the link. The couple streams in 4K and picks 4K, full quality when they download.

Questions filmmakers ask

How do I send a 4K video without losing quality?

Export at 4K as H.264 or HEVC and deliver it on a page that streams and downloads the original. Messaging apps and social uploads compress video, while a delivery gallery keeps your export as the download. In Hailo the couple picks 4K, full quality, large files in the Download sheet and gets the file you uploaded, named after them and the film.

What is the best way to send large video files to clients?

A delivery link the client opens in a browser, rather than an attachment or a file-transfer service. Hailo takes films up to 30 GB each, picks an upload back up after a dropped connection, and puts the film on a branded page where the couple can stream it or download it. You get one link to send instead of a folder to explain.

Why is my film not playing in 4K yet?

Check the line under the film in the Films panel. Preparing 4K means it is still being made ready; 1080p film means the export itself was 1080p. If it reads 4K ready and the couple says it looks soft, their player started at what their connection could carry: let it play for a minute, pick a higher quality in the player, or download the 4K file.

Can couples download their wedding film in 4K?

Yes, when you uploaded a 4K export and downloads are on for the gallery. The Download sheet tags every film that has a 4K copy and offers 4K full quality or HD 1080p. Films without a 4K copy download at up to 1080p whichever they pick. If the gallery has a password, the download asks for it first.
