Multicam sync software built for a whole wedding
Multicam sync software earns its keep on a wedding, where several cameras stop and start all day and the good sound lives on recorders and lavs. Hailo takes one folder per camera plus your audio and hands back one synced timeline: up to eight angles, every recorder in place, ready to open in Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve.

Up to eight angles
In one multicam.

No silent gaps
Where no recorder rolled, the camera audio fills in.
What multicam sync software has to handle at a wedding
A wedding is the hard case for any multi camera sync software. A tripod runs through the whole ceremony while a gimbal grabs short takes, a lav sits in the groom's pocket, and a camera across the room barely hears the toasts. Lining that up by hand is a night of nudging clips. Hailo is built for that day:
- Up to eight angles in one multicam, one folder per camera.
- Stops and restarts: short takes stay on their own camera's angle.
- Cameras with no mic: placed by timecode when your bodies were jam-synced.
- Jam-synced timecode is used when your bodies carry it.
- Checks its own work: every placement is held against your recorders before you see it.
Three ways to get it back
Stack the angles puts every camera on its own track, lined up to the recorder with the good audio underneath, and you do the cutting. Multicam gives you a real multicam clip to switch live. One camera hands back a single-camera cut with fades, synced to the good audio, with the ceremony or each toast found for you.
Final Cut Pro gets a true multicam clip, DaVinci Resolve gets its project built for it, and Premiere Pro gets the synced angles, or a real multicam clip on a timeline when one-click multicam is on. Hailo is not a multicam sync plugin inside your editor. It builds the file and opens it there, as the editor handoff page explains. A camera it cannot match still lands on the stacked timeline, named on the done screen.
Recorders, lavs and the films built on top
Recorders, lavs and a DJ board feed land under the picture where they belong, and where no recorder rolled, the camera's own sound fills the gap. The audio sync page covers every recorder case.
Sync is also where the ceremony and toasts films start. Once the angles line up, Hailo can cut the ceremony as a multicam for you to finish, built from every camera you shot.
If PluralEyes is what you used to reach for
Maxon announced in January 2023 that PluralEyes was entering limited maintenance mode, with no new enhancements, and pointed users to the sync built into their editors. If you are looking for a PluralEyes alternative for Mac, or a Syncaila alternative, the question is how much of the wedding you want handled. Built-in sync lines up the clips you hand it. Hailo starts from the folders and ends with a timeline in your editor.
How you use it in Hailo
- Click Make ceremony film or Make speeches film on the Edit launchpad.
- Pick the couple, then choose Stack the angles, Multicam or One camera.
- Click Add a folder for each camera. Each row in the roster becomes one track.
- Add your recorder files, or turn on No separate recorder.
- Choose where to save and click Build the film. Leave anytime; the build keeps running.
- Click Open in Premiere, Open in Final Cut or Open for Resolve.
Questions filmmakers ask
What replaced PluralEyes?
Maxon announced on January 31, 2023 that PluralEyes was entering limited maintenance mode, with no new enhancements, and pointed users to the sync built into Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve and Avid Media Composer. For a wedding, Hailo is a different kind of replacement: every camera and recorder synced from your folders, then opened in your editor.
What is the best multicam sync software?
The one that fits what you shoot. For a single interview, your editor's built-in sync is often enough. For a wedding, with stops and restarts and separate recorders, look for software that keeps short takes on their camera, places every recorder, and tells you plainly which angle it could not match. That is the job Hailo was built for.
Can you sync multiple cameras that were never jam-synced?
Yes. Point Hailo at one folder per camera plus your audio and it lines them up, with nothing to set on the cameras first. Jam-synced timecode is used when your bodies have it. With no recorder at all, turn on No separate recorder and Hailo syncs from the cameras alone, which works best when every camera heard the room.
How do I sync a camera that stopped and restarted?
In Hailo you do nothing special. Add that camera's folder like any other and every take, short ones included, stays on that camera's own angle in its right place. You get one angle per camera, not a pile of loose clips to sort onto tracks, and the done screen tells you if any camera could not be matched.
Does Premiere Pro sync multicam footage automatically?
Premiere Pro has sync built in and can line up a multicam source sequence from the clips you select. You still gather the clips, check every angle and fix any that land wrong. Hailo does that part across the whole wedding and, with one-click multicam on, opens a real multicam clip on a timeline in Premiere Pro, ready for you to press 1, 2 and 3.
