Delete your account

Close your Hailo account, and understand what is anonymised, what is kept for legal retention and why.

Deleting your account removes your login and personal information and signs you out. Business records that the law requires to be kept (invoices, payments, tax history) stay in anonymised form, no longer linked to a named person.

Heads up

This is permanent. Export your data first. A cancelled subscription is not the same as a deleted account; if you only want to stop paying, see Cancel your plan.

Before you start

The confirmation page suggests three alternatives:

  • Want a break? Sign out. Your data stays put.
  • Something broken? Email support at hello@hailo.studio.
  • Worried about your data? Export it first: a JSON file with every record in your workspace. See Export your data.

Delete the account

  1. Open Settings > Account.
  2. Under Your data, click Delete my account.
  3. Read What happens when you delete.
  4. Under Confirm deletion, type your account email exactly in the Your email box. The page shows the address it expects.
  5. Click Delete account permanently.
  6. Confirm "Last chance. Delete this account permanently?".

You are signed out and see "Your Hailo account has been deleted. Sorry to see you go." Click Cancel at any point before step 5 to go back to Account.

What happens when you delete

Removed Kept, anonymised
Your email and login credentials Invoices, payments and tax history, with no link to a named person
Your two-factor secrets and recovery codes
Your workspace, which is marked deleted and disappears from view
Pending invitations tied to the workspace

You cannot log back in with this email.

Records under legal retention are kept for compliance. If you want everything erased including billing history, email hello@hailo.studio after the deletion completes.

If it didn't work

  • "Type your email exactly to confirm account deletion." The address you typed does not match your sign-in email. Case does not matter, but every character must.
  • "Account deletion failed. Contact support." Something went wrong on our side. Email hello@hailo.studio.
  • You were signed out with "Signed out." and nothing else. You were in local mode without a cloud account, so there was no account to delete on the server.
Still stuck? Send a note from the contact page and a real person at Hailo answers. Include the studio name you signed up with and, if it is about a specific screen, what you clicked.
