Edit settings

Every setting behind the gear in the Edit wing, from your profile picture to where finished files go.

The gear at the top of the Edit workspace opens the Edit settings panel. These settings live on your Mac with the Edit engine. Most of them take effect on the next export; none of them require analyzing again.

Profile Picture

"Replaces the Hailo logo in the top-left of the projects page."

  • Change… opens a picker. Drag inside the circle to position the photo and use the slider or your mouse wheel to zoom from 1x to 3x. Apply saves it.
  • Remove clears the photo and restores the Hailo mark.

Support fields

Classification and the field directly under it are support fields. Leave them as they are unless Hailo support asks you to change one.

Workflow Preferences

Every choice here saves the moment you change it. The status line under the group confirms it.

Setting Choices What it changes
Organization Bins, Single Timeline, Multiple Timelines Whether clips arrive in bins by moment, on one timeline, or on one timeline per moment.
Timeline Layout Separated by Part of Day, All Together Whether a single timeline is split into parts of the day.
NLE Target Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro Which editor every "Open in" button targets and which file format is written.
Trim Mode Usable footage (on by default), Split good takes, Best take only How a Steady Clips export trims each clip. See Trimming shaky footage.
Color Coding On by default Whether clips carry a label colour by moment.
Group by Frame Rate Off by default Whether clips are grouped by frame rate inside the export.
Multicam Detection On by default Whether Hailo offers stacked and multicam timelines when a wedding was shot on more than one camera.

The editor choice is one setting

NLE Target here and Settings > Your editor (the Editor & time tracking page in Manage) are the same setting. Change it in either place and the other follows, along with every "Open in" button, the export format, the label colour palette, and what the time agent counts. The Manage page saves the instant you tap a tile and shows "Saved".

Multicam permission row

With Premiere Pro selected, a row appears under the dropdown:

  • "Checking multicam permission…" while Hailo looks.
  • "One-click multicam is on - Hailo can build multicam clips in Premiere." with a green dot.
  • "One-click multicam is off. Hailo needs permission to click one menu item in Premiere." with an amber dot and a Turn it on link that opens the macOS Accessibility pane.

The row is hidden for Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve. See Multicam permission for Premiere Pro.

Where finished files go

Choice Where deliverables go
Next to the footage, in a "Hailo Edit" folder (default) A Hailo Edit folder inside the wedding folder.
One folder for everything A library folder you pick with Choose. "Every wedding gets its own subfolder inside this one." Reads "No folder picked yet" until you pick.
Ask me each time A picker on each manual export. Automatic writes fall back to next to the footage.

A hint under the dropdown restates the current choice. See Where files land for the fallbacks and the folder that must never move.

Timeline Label Colors

"Change clip colors per moment, then re-export your XML." A grid with one colour per moment. Pick new colours, click Save Colors, then click Re-export with Current Preferences on the results screen. See Re-export.

Reset Onboarding & Preferences

"Re-run the setup wizard from the beginning." Clears the Edit preferences above and reopens the Edit setup wizard on next launch. Your analyzed projects and their files are not touched. See Redo or restart onboarding.

If it didn't work

What you see What to do
A change did not show in the export Click Re-export with Current Preferences on the results screen. Settings apply to the next export, not to files already written.

"One folder for everything" is selected but files land next to the footage The library field reads "No folder picked yet". Click Choose.
