Folder labels

Every subfolder in the wedding folder gets a label on the review screen. The label tells Hailo what kind of footage is inside, which decides whether the clips are analyzed one by one, whether they cost tokens, and whether they show up in the clip grid afterwards.

The seven labels

The dropdown itself reads Auto-detect, Main footage (auto-sorted), Long-form (ceremony, speeches, dances), Drone / aerial, Action camera (all labeled, not analyzed), Audio (Tascam, Zoom, etc.) and Don't include.

What each label does

Main footage

This is the only label where Hailo watches every clip, describes it, labels its moment and scores it for the timeline. It is also the only label that spends tokens. Use it for the cameras you shot the highlight film on.

Long-form

Long takes do not need a per-clip label: the whole file is the ceremony, or the whole file is the toasts. Labeling a folder long-form means Hailo skips the per-clip analysis on it, so those minutes never count toward tokens. The clips are hidden from the clip grid to keep it to your highlight footage, and a banner above the grid tells you how many are hidden. They are still there for the ceremony and speeches films, which are built from your long-form cameras and recorder audio.

Drone

Drone clips skip the per-clip analysis and cost nothing, but they stay in the clip grid because they are still B-roll you might cut with.

Action camera

Every clip in an action-camera folder is labeled Action Camera without being watched, so the folder costs nothing. Like long-form, these clips are hidden from the grid and remain available to the ceremony and speeches films.

Audio

Recorder files. Hailo uses them to sync cameras for the ceremony and speeches films and to transcribe speech for finding toasts and moments. Audio never costs tokens.

Don't include

The folder is ignored completely: not analyzed, not in the grid, not used by any film. Use it for the second shooter's personal folder, a folder of stills, or anything that is not this wedding.

How Hailo guesses

Leave a row on Auto-detect and Hailo works out what the folder holds from the folder itself: what it is called, what is in it, and what the clips look like. It shows the guess as a hint beside the row: Drone, Action cam, Long-form, Main footage, Audio or Excluded.

It errs toward analyzing: a folder it is unsure about is treated as main footage rather than skipped. When the guess is wrong, pick the right label from the dropdown; your choice always wins over the guess.

Where the labels show up later

• The Hidden from grid banner above the clip grid counts the long-form, excluded and action-camera clips that are not shown, and reminds you they are still available for the ceremony and speeches builds.
• In multi-folder projects, the clip grid groups clips by their source folder, so a drone folder is easy to find.
• Folder tags you set during an offload (for example Long-form ceremony) help the guess along when the same folder reaches intake.

Troubleshooting

Fewer clips in the grid than in the folder. Some folders were labeled long-form, action camera or excluded, so their clips are not in the grid. The banner above the grid says how many. If a folder of highlight clips was routed by mistake, re-run intake and set it to Main footage.

A folder mixing long takes and short clips. Split it into two folders in Finder first, then drop the wedding folder again. Labels apply per folder.

The guess says Long-form for a highlight camera. A folder that mixes long takes with highlight clips can throw the guess. Set the label to Main footage yourself.
