Goals
Set a revenue target, a wedding count and a delivery turnaround for a planning window, see whether you are ahead or behind, split each payment into envelopes, and read the Goals tile and widget on the dashboard.
Goals turns the money and bookings Hailo already tracks into a plan you can measure against: how much you want to make, how many weddings you want to book, how fast you promise to deliver, and how each payment should be set aside. Nothing here moves money. Hailo does the math; you move the cash.
Open it from Goals in the sidebar, or click the Goals tile on the dashboard.
Set up your plan the first time
The first visit walks you through it. The intro reads "Let's map what's ahead." and "Pick your window, set three numbers, and choose how each payment splits. About a minute, and Hailo tracks the rest for you."
- Click Start.
- What are we planning? Pick the window your targets cover: Full year, Rest of the year (offered from February on), This quarter, Next 12 months, or a custom date range. Each card shows its dates and length. Click Continue.
- How much do you want to make? Type the total you want to collect across all your weddings in the window. Quick-pick amounts sit under the box, and a line under it does the monthly math for you. Click Continue.
- How many weddings do you want to book? Type your booking target. Hailo counts contracts as they come in. Click Continue.
- How fast do you want to deliver? Type the number of weeks you promise couples after the wedding. Hailo tracks how many of your films land inside it. Click Continue.
- How should each payment split? The envelopes start as Taxes 30%, Gear 10%, Vacation 5%, Take-home 55%. Rename, re-percentage, remove, or click Add envelope. Click Continue, or Skip for now to plan without envelopes.
- Here's your plan. Review the summary and click Save and see my plan.
Back on every step returns to the previous one. The window cannot run backwards and cannot be longer than about two years; a range outside that falls back to the calendar year.
Read the Goals page
The page is one card. The eyebrow reads Goals and your window, and how many days are left in it. The big number is what you have collected so far, with "collected of" your target under it, or "collected so far" if you have not set one.
Under the number, one sentence tells you where you stand:
| Sentence | Meaning |
|---|---|
| "On pace." | Within 4% of where you should be by today |
| "Ahead by $X." or "Behind by $X." | Compared with a straight line from the start of the window to the target. After the first stretch of the window, "Trending to $Y." is added: your run rate carried to the end |
| "No revenue target set yet. Open your plan below and give this year a number." | The plan has no revenue target |
| "Revenue goal hit. Everything from here is upside." | You passed the target |
| "This window hasn't started yet." | The window starts in the future |
The three bars
| Bar | Measures | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue | Net cash collected in the window (payments minus refunds), against your target | A "today" marker shows where the bar should have reached by now. A fill that stops short of the marker is what behind looks like |
| Weddings | Bookings in the window, against your target | Cancelled bookings do not count. Shares the same today marker |
| On time | Of the films you delivered in the window, the share that landed inside your promised weeks | The caption reads the average weeks, your goal, and "N of N on time", or "No deliveries yet" and your goal |
Revenue here is the same number as the dashboard's money tiles, so the two never disagree.
The three stats
| Stat | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Leads to find | How many more leads you need to hit the wedding target, with "N of N so far" under it |
| Your pace | Leads per month you are bringing in, with "N leads last 30d" under it |
| Set aside | The total of every envelope so far, "across N envelopes" |
The lead numbers use your own close rate over the last year. If Hailo has too few leads to trust that rate, the note under the stats says the numbers use a 30% starting rate until you have logged more. If your logged rate looks polluted by imported history (under 5%), the note says so and uses 30% instead.
Open leads takes you to your open leads when there are leads left to find.
The four panels
Four chevrons open one panel at a time.
Ask Hailo
Chips for Am I on track?, Focus this month and Close the revenue gap, and a box that reads "Ask Hailo about your goals..." Answers come back in the panel. See Ask Hailo.
Envelopes
Money set aside, "Running totals from every payment's split": the grand total and one line per envelope. This is how much you should have moved into each pot by now.
Recent splits
How recent payments split: each recent payment with the couple, the date, and its split per envelope. Click Mark set aside once you have moved the money; it changes to Set aside. Empty state: "No payments split yet. Once a payment lands, its envelope breakdown shows here."
Your plan
Edit the plan without redoing the wizard:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Revenue target | "what you want to make in this window" |
| Weddings to book | Your booking target |
| Delivery turnaround | "weeks to deliver after each wedding". Blank means 8 |
| Allocation envelopes | "how each payment splits". Name, percentage and colour per row, × to remove, Add envelope to add. The line under them reads "Envelopes total N% of each payment" and adds "(leftover stays in your account)" when they do not reach 100 |
Click Save plan. A Saved tick appears and the bars repaint in place.
Start these goals over sits at the bottom of the panel: "This clears your targets, your window and your envelopes, and walks you back through setting them. Your payments and their recorded splits stay exactly as they are." Click it, then Start over to confirm or Keep my goals to back out. The wizard opens again.
How envelopes work
When a payment lands (card, Square, or one you record by hand), Hailo records the suggested split across your envelopes at that moment. It never moves money. The Envelopes panel keeps the running totals; Recent splits shows each payment. Refunds and pending payments are not split. Changing the percentages later affects new payments only.
Goals on the dashboard
- The Goals stat tile in the top row shows your overall percentage to plan: the average of the Revenue and Weddings percentages (and On time, once you have deliveries). With no plan it reads Set up. Click it to open Goals.
- The Goals widget ("Your year's targets at a glance") shows days left, "N % to plan", and three sub-bars: Revenue with its percentage, Weddings as current/target, and On-time once there are deliveries. With no plan it reads No plan yet and "Set your revenue and wedding targets to track pace all year." Click anywhere on it to open Goals.
If it didn't work
- Goals opens the wizard instead of my plan. There is no plan covering today. A plan for a window that has ended does not carry over. Set a new one, or open the plan editor directly by adding
?edit=1to the Goals link from a bookmark. - The Revenue bar does not match my invoices. The bar counts collected cash only (payments minus refunds), not invoiced amounts. Unpaid invoices are not in it.
- Weddings shows fewer than I have booked. Only bookings anchored inside the window count, by wedding date. A wedding next year does not count toward this year's window.
- On time shows nothing. No films have been marked delivered inside the window, or the delivered films have no wedding date to measure from.
- Leads to find is missing. It only appears once a wedding target is set.
