A tour of Hailo Billing
Every part of the Hailo Billing page: the status header, the invoice timeline, the run ledger, the plan cards and the fine print.
Hailo Billing is the one page for your Hailo subscription: what plan you are on, whether anything needs your attention, how much of this cycle you have used, what you have paid and what comes next. Open it from Settings > Hailo Billing, or from the avatar menu with Billing.
This page is only your Hailo subscription. The rails your couples pay you through (Stripe, Square, Venmo, check and so on) live under Settings > Client payment methods. The bottom of the billing page says so: "Looking for the payment rails your clients use? That's Payouts."
The status header
The header has one job: tell you whether you are fine or need to act. It shows your plan name, a state chip, one line of explanation and, in three states, a button.
| Chip | Line under it | Button |
|---|---|---|
| Free trial | "You're in your free trial. Nothing has been charged yet." | none |
| Active | The plan's blurb, for example "One filmmaker running the whole business." | none |
| Changing {date} | The plan's blurb. Shown when a downgrade is scheduled for your renewal date. | none here; Keep {Plan} appears on the timeline |
| Payment failed | "A renewal charge failed. Your plan stays live while we retry. Update your card before the retries run out." | Update card |
| Ending | "Canceled, and you keep everything until the date below. Reversible until then." | Keep my plan |
| Early access | "Free while you're on early access. The limits below are enforced." | none |
| Internal | "Internal account. Nothing is capped and nothing is billed." | none |
| No subscription | "Pick a plan below. Every plan starts with a 3-day free trial." | none |
A second chip, {N}% off, appears next to the state while a discount is on your subscription.
Keep my plan undoes a pending cancel and shows "Welcome back. Your plan is active again." Update card opens Stripe's customer portal in a browser window. See Update your card and get receipts.
The timeline
Under the header is a vertical timeline. The solid nodes are your last three invoices, oldest first, and the dashed node at the end is what happens next.
Past invoices
Each invoice node shows the date and one of:
- Paid $99.00, with a Receipt link that opens the PDF in a browser window
- $99.00 awaiting payment
- Voided
- $99.00 unpaid
Only the last three appear here. The full archive is in Stripe's customer portal, behind Payment method & receipts at the bottom of the page.
The next node
| Your state | The next node reads |
|---|---|
| Free trial | The day-4 date. "First charge of $99.00. Cancel before then and you pay nothing." |
| Active | Your renewal date. "Renews at $99.00." (or "Renews at $1,010.00 for the year") |
| Downgrade scheduled | The renewal date. "{New plan} starts, at $69 a month. You keep Studio until then." with a Keep Studio button that cancels the downgrade |
| Ending | The end date. "Your plan ends. No further charges. Resume before this date to keep it." |
| Payment failed | "Now. We're retrying the charge. If it keeps failing your plan ends." |
| No subscription | "Not yet. Nothing is scheduled. Pick a plan below to start." |
Under the next node is the card on file, for example Visa ·4242, or "No payment method yet" before you subscribe.
Today: usage meters
The Today · {Plan} panel shows this cycle's usage, ordered so the meter closest to its limit is first: "Your usage this cycle, closest to its limit first. When a meter fills, that feature pauses until it resets." If your terms differ from what new members get, the drift lines sit at the top of this panel. Every meter is explained in Usage meters.
Under the meters sits the top-up block, Need more this cycle?, with the Add 2.5 hours · $25 button. See Buy more hours.
What you've run this cycle
Under the meters, What you've run this cycle lists the last eight analyses from the current billing cycle. Each row shows:
| Column | What it means |
|---|---|
| Name | The project name, or "Analysis" if the run had none |
| Kind and date | Footage analysis or Blueprint build, then the date it finished, for example "Footage analysis · Sep 2" |
| Cost | For a footage analysis: the hours of handheld footage it used, for example "2.4 hours". For a Blueprint build: its place in your monthly allowance, for example "3 of 20". |
A greyed "before hours were tracked" appears on older rows from before Hailo tracked footage length per run. Those rows do not count against this cycle. Runs from earlier cycles never appear here; the list is this cycle only, so it always matches the meters above it.
A build is never shown as "free". It costs one of your Blueprint builds, not hours, and the row says which one.
Plans: the tier cards
The section is titled Plans before you subscribe and Change what happens next once you have. With a subscription the sub-line reads "Moving up starts today and you pay only the difference for the rest of this period. Moving down waits for your renewal date, so you keep what you've already paid for."
A Monthly / Annual (Save 15%) toggle above the cards switches every price. If you arrived from the pricing page, the period you chose there is already selected and the plan you picked is marked.
Each card shows:
| Line | Example |
|---|---|
| Name and chip | Studio with Yours, locked (or Current on early access), Scheduled on a plan you are moving to |
| Price | $99 /mo, or the annual figure when the toggle is on Annual |
| Blurb | "One filmmaker running the whole business." |
| Hours | 10 hours of footage a month, with a delta such as +5 h or −5 h against your plan |
| Weddings | "About 4 weddings at 2.5 hours each" |
| Wings | "Manage, Edit and Deliver" or "Edit wing only" |
| Builds | 20 blueprint builds / mo, with a delta such as +40 |
| Delivery | 100 GB of delivery a month with a delta such as +100 GB, or "No delivery" on Edit |
| Timing | "Starts today" on an upgrade, "Starts {renewal date}" on a downgrade |
Deltas are coloured by direction, so a downgrade's −5 h reads as a loss and an upgrade's +10 h reads as a gain. The card you are on shows your locked terms; every other card shows today's offer.
The button on each card depends on where you stand:
| Button | When |
|---|---|
| Current plan | Your plan. Below it, Switch to annual billing if you are on monthly |
| Upgrade to Pro | A plan above yours. Billed today, prorated |
| Switch to Edit | A plan below yours. Takes effect at renewal |
| Starts {date} | A downgrade you have already scheduled |
| Start with Studio | No subscription yet. Opens the trial checkout |
| Choose Studio | Same, on an early access account |
| Studio, soon | Hailo cannot take payment for that plan yet |
Plans Hailo cannot charge for are hidden from the list, except the one you are on, which always shows. See Change plan.
The fine print
Under the cards:
- "Your price and limits are locked at what you bought. They only change when you switch plans or cancel." (shown once you have a locked plan). See Locked terms.
- "Every plan starts with a 3-day trial, card up front, nothing charged until day 4. A run already going always finishes. Rebuilding a wedding never re-analyzes it, so a build never costs hours. Annual billing saves 15%."
Every plan starts with a 3-day trial, Pro included. While it runs, the Footage analyzed meter shows the trial's 2.5 hours rather than your plan's, and a Start my plan now button appears at the top of the page. See Start your free trial.
Payment method and receipts
"Change the card on file, or open the full invoice archive." with a Payment method & receipts button. It opens Stripe's customer portal in a browser window. The portal handles your card and receipts only; plan changes and cancelling happen on this page. See Update your card and get receipts.
Cancel plan
At the very bottom, while your plan is active: "Not working out? Ending it now still runs through {renewal date}. You keep everything you've paid for." and a Cancel plan button that opens the cancel sheet. It is not shown while a plan is already ending. See Cancel your plan.
