Connect Instagram

Let Hailo track your Instagram posts so the Momentum score on your dashboard fills itself, and reconnect when the 60-day token runs out.

The Momentum tile on your dashboard scores how consistently you are posting. Without a connection you log posts by hand. Connect Instagram and every post is picked up on its own and feeds the score.

Note

Instagram only allows this for professional accounts. Business and creator accounts work. A personal account does not. Switch the account type in the Instagram app first if you need to.

Connect Instagram

  1. Open Settings > Integrations.
  2. On the Instagram tile, click Connect Instagram →. A browser window opens on Instagram's sign-in page and Hailo shows the Waiting for browser approval… overlay.
  3. Sign in and approve.
  4. Return to Hailo. The tile reads Connected as your handle. Hailo shows "Instagram connected" with your handle and either how many recent posts it pulled into your Momentum score, or that your posts will sync automatically.

The connected state

The tile says your posts sync automatically and feed the Momentum score on your dashboard, with no manual logging.

Action What it does
Sync now Checks Instagram for new posts right away instead of waiting for the next automatic sync.
Disconnect Hailo asks "Disconnect Instagram? Posts stop syncing and the Momentum tile falls back to manual logging." Confirm and Hailo shows "Instagram disconnected. Posts stop syncing; the Momentum tile falls back to manual logging."

Sync now

Click Sync now. Hailo shows one of:

  • "Synced N new posts from Instagram."
  • "Already up to date" with a note that there are no new posts since the last sync.
  • "Instagram sync hit a problem:" followed by the reason. See below.

When the token expires

Instagram's access tokens last 60 days without a sync. If Hailo has not synced in that time, the chip changes to Reconnect Instagram → and the tile says "Your Instagram token expired" with your handle, that Meta tokens last 60 days without a sync, and to reconnect to resume automatic post tracking.

  1. Click Reconnect Instagram →.
  2. Approve in the browser window. The tile returns to Connected and syncing resumes.

Automatic syncs keep the token fresh, so this mostly happens when Hailo has been closed for a couple of months.

If the tile says "Setup required"

Instagram needs a one-time setup on Hailo's side before studios can connect. While it is missing, the tile says so and notes that the Momentum tile's manual log keeps working. There is nothing to do on your side.

If it didn't work

  • "Instagram connection cancelled" followed by a reason. You closed or declined the approval. Try again.
  • "Instagram connection couldn't be verified" with a prompt to try again. The approval came back too late or to a different session. Start again and finish in one go.
  • "Instagram didn't return an authorization code". The approval was interrupted. Try again.
  • "Couldn't finish connecting Instagram:" followed by a reason. Instagram accepted the sign-in but Hailo could not finish. Wait a moment and try again.
  • "Instagram isn't connected." You clicked Sync now with no active connection. Connect first.
  • "Instagram sync hit a problem:" followed by a reason. Usually the token has been revoked or expired. Click Disconnect, then connect again.
  • The connection stranded you on instagram.com. Instagram's sign-in must run in your browser, not inside Hailo. Close that window, return to Hailo and click Connect Instagram → again.
  • Your handle on proposals and galleries is wrong. That comes from Settings > Your studio > Links, not from this connection. See Links.
Still stuck? Send a note from the contact page and a real person at Hailo answers. Include the studio name you signed up with and, if it is about a specific screen, what you clicked.
