Share link and text-message preview

Copy the couple's link and control how it looks when you text it.

The Share panel is built around one thing: the link. It shows the link, how it previews in a text message, and folds for email, the link ending and embedding.

Open the panel

Click Share at the top of the editor.

The full link sits at the top with a Copy button. Under it, one of two captions:

  • Your domain ยท when a custom domain is live. The link uses it.
  • Use your own domain when it is not. Click it to open the domain settings. See Custom domain.

The link only opens for the couple once the gallery is published. See Publish a gallery.

How it looks when you text this link

Under the caption How it looks when you text this link is a rendered preview card: the picture (or No picture yet), a bold title and the host. This is what Messages, WhatsApp and similar apps show when you paste the link.

Change how it looks in a text

Open the fold Change how it looks in a text.

  1. Upload a photo (or Replace photo) to set the picture. Use the cover (shown once you have set a photo) goes back to the gallery's cover.
  2. Type a title in the field, up to 120 characters. The placeholder is the title Hailo would use on its own.

Two notes to read before you change anything:

  • "Leave the line blank to keep what is there. Messages remembers a preview per link for a long time, so a thread that has already seen this one will keep showing the old card." Set the picture and title before you send the link the first time.
  • If the gallery has a password: "This gallery has a passcode, so its link still previews as your studio name only. None of this shows until someone is through the gate." A locked gallery never leaks the couple's names or a still into a text thread.

There is no description field; text-message previews show picture, title and host only.

The other folds

If it didn't work

  • The text preview still shows the old picture. The messaging app cached it. Send the link in a new thread, or add a custom ending to make it a new link (see Custom link ending).
  • The preview shows only your studio name. The gallery has a password. That is intended.
  • Copy did nothing. Select the link text and copy it by hand.
