Selects preview and hotkeys

Play through the selected clips as one timeline inside Hailo, and drive it from the keyboard.

The Selects Preview plays your selected clips back to back, trimmed the way the timeline will be, before you open your editor. Use it to check the cut, catch a bad label, or see how the trimming landed.

Open the panel

Click Selects on the results toolbar, or Preview timeline on the done panel after a run. The panel slides in from the side of the workspace. Drag the handle on its left edge to make it wider or narrower.

What is on the panel

Part What it does
Selects Preview header The title, a running timecode, and an X to close (tooltip "Close panel (ESC)").
Video The playing clip. Hailo preloads the next clip so cuts play without a gap.
Info bar The current clip's name and a counter like "4/58".
Transport Previous clip (J), Play/Pause (Space), Next clip (L), Mute/Unmute (M), Zoom out (-), Fit whole timeline (0), Zoom in (=).
Timeline A ruler you can drag to scrub, a chapter bar colored by moment, and one playhead spanning both.
Chapter head A dot, the current moment's name and its meta.

Hotkeys

These work only while the panel is open.

Key Action
Esc Close the panel
Space Play or pause
K Play or pause
Right arrow Nudge forward 2 seconds (stops at the clip's out point)
Left arrow Nudge back 2 seconds (stops at the clip's in point)
Shift + Right arrow Next clip
Shift + Left arrow Previous clip
J Previous clip
L Next clip
M Mute or unmute
Equals (=) or plus (+) Zoom in
Minus (-) or underscore (_) Zoom out
0 Zoom to fit the whole timeline

Scroll the mouse wheel over the timeline to zoom in and out, and drag to pan when zoomed in.

Building preview and Preview unavailable

The first time you open the panel on a trimmed timeline, it reads Building preview… with the note that this is a one-time render of the trimmed timeline, about 30 seconds, and playback starts on its own when it is ready.

If a clip has no playable preview, the panel reads Preview unavailable with the advice to re-run analysis to generate previews and reopen the timeline. The clip is still on the timeline for your editor; only the in-app preview is missing.

Troubleshooting

The panel opens but nothing plays. Press Space, or check the status overlay for Building preview… and give it a moment.

Preview unavailable on every clip. The previews were never made (the footage drive was unplugged during the run, for example). Reconnect the drive and use Reanalyze smoothness (keeps labels) under the progress card, then reopen the panel.

The hotkeys do nothing. The panel must be open and the workspace must have focus. Click inside the panel once.
