Offline and reconnecting
Learn what Hailo shows when the connection drops, what keeps working without internet, and what needs it.
Some of Hailo needs a connection and some of it does not. When the internet drops, Hailo shows you the state rather than going blank.
What works without internet

An analysis does not depend on the connection once it has started.
The offline pill
When the connection drops, a pill appears in the top bar reading "No internet - reconnecting". Its tooltip: "No internet connection. Your work and any running analysis continue; Hailo reconnects on its own." The pill disappears when the connection returns.
The Reconnecting screen
If a Manage or Deliver page cannot load, or answers with an error page, the window shows:

"The connection dropped for a moment. Hailo is reconnecting and will pick up right where you left off. No need to do anything."
Hailo retries every few seconds and reloads the page you were on the instant it comes back. If a page stays blank for 25 seconds after a slow load, the same screen appears.
The Starting Edit screen
Switching to Edit right after Hailo opens, or right after an update, can land on:

"The editing engine is warming up. This can take a moment on the first launch after an update. Edit will open on its own."
Edit opens by itself once it is ready. This is not a connection problem, so waiting is all it takes.
Signing back in after a drop
On the Mac app, if the connection drops while you switch wings, you may briefly see Reconnecting with the line "Signing you back in on this Mac." Hailo re-establishes your sign-in for about 15 seconds and then continues. If you had signed out on purpose, it shows the front door instead. See Sign in for the first time.
If it didn't work
The Reconnecting screen stays for minutes. Check that other sites load on your Mac. If they do, Hailo usually returns within a couple of minutes and the screen reloads on its own. If it does not, quit and reopen Hailo.
Starting Edit stays for a long time. Quit and reopen Hailo. If it still will not open, see Edit won't open.
An upload stopped when the connection dropped. Uploads to Deliver need a connection. Open the uploads pill in the top bar to see the state; a stopped upload can be discarded and started again from the gallery editor.
The offline pill stays after the connection is back. Give it a few seconds. If it persists, click a wing in the top bar to reload.
