Edit with Blueprints
Start from a finished film's cuts, song and pacing, and have Hailo refill every cut from a wedding you have already analyzed.
A Blueprint is a finished film with its footage taken out: the cuts, the song and the pacing stay, and Hailo fills each cut from a wedding you have already analyzed. You pick a blueprint, pick a wedding, and get an assembled film with a scrubbable timeline.
Blueprints opens on October 14, 2026. Until then it is in trial, and every account gets one full build while it is being tuned. When it opens, your plan carries a monthly build allowance: see the pricing page for the number on yours. A Blueprint build never costs analysis hours either way: it reuses the labels from a wedding you already analyzed and nothing is re-analyzed.
Open Blueprints
Click Edit with Blueprints ("A finished edit, refilled with new footage.") on the Edit launchpad, or Blueprint edit ("Build to the shape of a reference edit.") in the Make rail on a couple's Edit hub. Opening from the hub pre-selects that couple's wedding in the build step.
Blueprints needs the Hailo desktop app and an analyzed wedding whose footage drive is connected.
The gallery
The gallery is headed Blueprints with the title Start from a film that already works and the line "Every blueprint is a finished edit, its cuts, its song, its pacing. Pick one and Hailo fills each cut from a wedding you have already analyzed."
Each card is one blueprint. If there are none yet, the gallery reads "No blueprints are available yet."
The detail screen
Click a blueprint to open it. A Blueprints back link returns to the gallery. The screen shows:
- The blueprint's name, its song, and a one-line description.
- A spec row with the runtime and cut count.
- The Sample film plate: the original film, with a play button and a Sound off / Sound on toggle. Under it, a waveform of the song with every cut marked and a playhead you can scrub.
- A moments row showing the film's shape by family: Prep, First look, Ceremony, Portraits, Dancing, Reception, Details, Establishing, Other.
Build a film
- Under Which wedding should Hailo build this from?, open the dropdown (placeholder "Choose a wedding") and pick an analyzed wedding. Weddings are listed by couple name.
- Click Build this film.
- A progress bar shows the phase and percent, for example "Filling cuts … 62%".
Under the button: "Every cut above gets filled from that wedding's footage. Nothing is re-analyzed."
Before it starts, Hailo checks the pick. "Pick the wedding you want this built from." means the dropdown is empty. "This blueprint is missing its cut list." means the blueprint itself is incomplete; choose another.
The results area
Until you have built something, the results area reads "Nothing built yet. Pick a blueprint, choose a wedding, and run it, the assembled film lands here with a scrubbable timeline."
After a build, the area is headed Blueprint Build and shows the assembled film in a player with the timeline under it. Click any shot to open it; use the arrows or the hotkeys to move between shots, nudge the selection inside a clip, and apply a different pick. See Blueprint Studio hotkeys.
The build is saved. Come back later and it is still here, and if a build finishes while you are elsewhere in Hailo, reopening Blueprints reattaches to it.
Where results show in Manage
A finished build is recorded on the couple's record. On the couple's Edit hub a Blueprint film row appears with an Open Blueprints button that deep-links to that couple's newest saved build, and a list of every saved build for the couple. On the Edit launchpad the couple's tile reads Films built.
Exported timelines land in the wedding's deliverables folder like every other film. See Where files land.
The trial allowance
Until Blueprints opens on October 14, 2026, each account gets one Blueprint build. After it, opening Blueprints shows:
You've used your Blueprints test run
"Blueprints is in trial, every account gets one full build while we tune it. Your run is saved in the studio, and more runs are coming as the feature hardens. Want another pass sooner? Tell us what you'd build."
with a Back to Edit button. Your finished build is still saved and still opens from the couple's hub.
The "coming soon" screen
Some accounts see this instead of the gallery:
Edit with Blueprints is coming soon
"Build a finished edit's structure, the cuts, the song, the pacing, filled automatically with this wedding's footage. It's in active development and lands in an upcoming Hailo update. We'll turn it on here the moment it's ready."
with a Back to Edit button. It appears when your Hailo is running Edit from the cloud rather than from the local engine on your Mac, which Blueprints needs. It turns on with a future Hailo update.
Build a blueprint as part of Build Everything
The Build Everything flow has a Build a blueprint film switch with a "Which blueprint?" list. Its note reads "Hailo re-cuts that blueprint's timeline using this wedding's clips, then renders a preview. It runs last, and it needs the moments pass - switching this on switches that on too." See Build Everything.
If it didn't work
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| "No blueprint to build." | Open a blueprint from the gallery first. |
| "Pick the wedding you want this built from." | Choose a wedding in the dropdown. |
| The wedding you want is not in the dropdown | It has not been analyzed, or its analysis is not complete. Run it through Sort a wedding first. |
| The film plays black frames | The footage drive is not connected. Plug it in and reload the build. |
| "Couldn't load your blueprints." (in Build Everything) | The Blueprints studio did not answer. Quit and reopen Hailo. |
