Inspiration

Keep a library of wedding films worth studying: add a YouTube or Vimeo film with notes on why it matters, watch it in place, and hide the ones you are done with.

Inspiration is a library of wedding films to study. It opens from the top bar next to Resources and Community. Hailo starts it with a set of picks, and you add your own. The header says how to use it: "Films worth studying." and "Watch with intent. Notice runtime, restraint, where the maker chose to linger."

A count next to the header reads how many films are "in library".

Watch a film

  1. Click a card. It grows to fill the row and starts playing; the other cards dim.
  2. Click Close player on the card to stop and shrink it back.
  3. If a film cannot play inside Hailo, the card reads "Opening on YouTube" (or Vimeo) and a browser window opens with it. Watch on source does the same on demand.

Each card shows the film's title, the filmmaker, a style word (or Film), up to three style tags, and the note you wrote under Why it's great when you added one. Films you added carry a Yours marker; the starter set carries Hailo picks.

Add a film

Adding is for the studio owner. Other members see the library but not the + Add film button.

  1. Click + Add film at the top right. The Add a film dialog opens.
  2. Paste a YouTube or Vimeo URL. A Preview appears under it with the film's thumbnail and, where the site provides them, the title and maker fill in for you. Until you paste, the preview reads "Paste a link above".
  3. Fill in the fields below.
  4. Click Save to library.
Field What to enter
Title "Couple names or film title"
Filmmaker "Studio name"
Filmmaker site (optional) Their website
Wedding type Pick one: ballroom, backyard, destination, elopement, vineyard, church, multicultural, urban, outdoor or other. The dropdown starts as "Select a type…"
Style tags Click any that apply: cinematic, documentary, moody, anamorphic, natural light, warm, dark, editorial, candid, fast paced
Why it's great (optional) "One line on what you want to study about this film."

The new card appears at the front of the grid.

Hide a film

Hover a card and click Remove from library (the ×). The card disappears and a toast reads "Film hidden" with an Undo button. Click Undo within a few seconds to bring it back.

  • Hiding one of the Hailo picks hides it on this Mac only. A Show N hidden button appears in the header; click it to bring every hidden pick back.
  • Removing a film you added removes it from the studio's library. Only the owner can do this. Undo on the toast restores it.

Empty state

With every card hidden or none added, the page reads "Your library is empty" and "Paste a Vimeo or YouTube URL to start a collection of films worth coming back to."

If it didn't work

  • The preview stays blank after pasting. The link is not a YouTube or Vimeo film link, or the site did not answer. Check the address; a link straight to the video page works best. You can still fill in the title and maker by hand and save.
  • There is no + Add film button. You are not the studio owner. Ask the owner to add it.
  • Save to library fails. An error line appears under the form. The URL is usually the problem; paste the plain video link without extra parameters.
Still stuck? Send a note from the contact page and a real person at Hailo answers. Include the studio name you signed up with and, if it is about a specific screen, what you clicked.
