How the 3-day trial works, what it includes, what is on the checkout page, and what happens on day 4.

Every Hailo plan starts with a 3-day free trial that includes 2.5 hours of footage analysis, about one wedding. You add a card when you start, nothing is charged until day 4, and you can cancel before then at no cost. This article covers what the trial includes, the checkout page field by field, and what happens after you press the button.

How the trial works

Length 3 days
Card Taken up front, so the trial rolls into your plan without interruption
Due today $0.00
First charge Day 4, the date shown on the checkout page
Cancel before day 4 Nothing is charged
Footage analysis 2.5 hours, about one wedding
Delivery uploads Your plan's full monthly allowance
Your own mailbox Comes with a paid plan. Your calendar still syncs
Which plans Every plan: Edit, Studio and Pro
How many trials One per workspace. Re-subscribing after a cancel is billed from day one

While the trial runs, your billing page shows a Free trial chip, your remaining analysis on the Footage analyzed meter as "0 / 2.5 hours", and the day-4 date on the timeline with "First charge of $X. Cancel before then and you pay nothing."

Note

The 2.5 hours is the same on every plan. A Pro trial and an Edit trial analyse the same amount of footage; the plan you pick decides what you get from day 4, and what your delivery allowance is in the meantime.

Start a trial from the pricing page

  1. Open hailo.studio/pricing and pick Monthly or Annual.
  2. Press Start 3-day trial on the plan you want. The checkout page opens with that plan and billing period already chosen.
  3. Fill in the page as described below and press Start my trial.
  4. Set a password on the page that follows.
  5. Download and install the Mac app if you have not already. See Install Hailo.

The checkout page

The heading reads Start your trial and the title names the plan: for example Studio, free for 3 days, with "Card up front, nothing charged until day 4. Cancel before then at no cost." Above the card is a Changed your mind? Back to pricing link (or Back to billing if you came from inside Hailo).

The plan card

Line What it shows
{Plan} plan and price The plan name with its price: $99/mo, or $1,010/yr on annual
Blurb The plan's one-line description. On annual it adds "$84 a month, billed yearly."
Monthly / Annual (save 15%) Two tabs. Switching reloads the page with the other price
Due today $0.00 on a trial. Without a trial it shows the amount once Stripe has loaded
Then $X on {Month D}, and every month after. The first charge and its date. On annual it reads "every year after"
Fine print "Card details go straight to Stripe and never touch Hailo. By continuing you agree to the terms."

The date on the Then line is worked out when the page opens. If you leave the page open past midnight, reload it before you continue.

The form

  1. Apple Pay or Google Pay appears above the form when your Mac or browser offers it, with an "or pay with card" divider underneath. Either one fills in the card for you.
  2. Email. The address your Hailo login will be on. If you are already signed in to a workspace, this field is locked to that workspace's email.
  3. Card. Stripe's own card fields, drawn inside Hailo's page. Card details go to Stripe and never touch Hailo.
  4. Have a code? Press it to reveal a Promo code field with Apply. A good code shows "Code {CODE} applied." with a Remove link and the discount is reflected in the plan card.
  5. Start my trial. Disabled until Stripe's fields have loaded, then live.

What happens after you press the button

  • New customer: the card shows Card on file, You're in., "Setting up your studio", then you are taken to a page headed One last step with "Pick a password and your workspace is ready." The email is locked to the one you paid with. Passwords must be at least 10 characters. From there you land in Hailo and the onboarding wizard opens the first time you launch the Mac app.
  • Already signed in to a workspace with no subscription: you return to Hailo Billing with "You're subscribed. Your new plan is active."
  • Already subscribed: the checkout page does not open. You are sent to Hailo Billing with "You're already subscribed. Here's your plan."

The trial ends on day 4 and the card is charged the plan price. Nothing else changes: your projects, galleries and settings carry straight through.

Using the 2.5 hours

The trial includes 2.5 hours of footage analysis, which is about one wedding shot on one main camera. That is enough to run a real card start to finish and see your own footage come back sorted. Cameras you set down and left running, plus drone and action cams, are routed a different way and do not come off it, the same as on a paid plan.

Delivery uploads are not limited by the trial. They run at your plan's full monthly allowance, so you can build and send a gallery while you are still deciding.

Connecting your own mailbox comes with a paid plan. Google Calendar still syncs during the trial.

Start your plan before day 4

If you use the 2.5 hours before the trial is up, or you have seen enough and want your full hours now, open Settings > Hailo Billing and press Start my plan now. It charges the card you already gave us and your full allowance opens the same second. There is nothing new to fill in.

Cancel during the trial

Open Settings > Hailo Billing, scroll to the bottom and press Cancel plan. Cancelling before the day-4 date means nothing is charged. You keep access until that date. See Cancel your plan.

If it didn't work

What you see What to do
"Could not reach Stripe. Check your connection and reload." The card fields could not load. Check your internet connection and reload the page.
"Still loading. Try again in a second." You pressed the button before Stripe finished loading. Wait a moment and press it again.
"Enter the email you want your Hailo login on." The email field is empty or not a valid address.
"That email did not go through." Stripe rejected the email. Check for typos and try again.
"That card did not go through." The card was declined. Try another card, or Apple Pay or Google Pay.
"That code did not work." The promo code is wrong, expired, or not valid for this plan. Check it with whoever gave it to you.
"Could not remove the code." Reload the page and start again without the code.
"Could not start checkout." or "Couldn't start checkout. Try again in a minute." Hailo could not open a checkout with Stripe. Wait a minute and try again. If you were signed in, you are returned to the billing page.
"Start from the pricing page. Pick a plan there and we'll take a card, then you'll land back here to set a password." You opened the signup page directly. Go to hailo.studio/pricing and start there.
"{email} already has a Hailo workspace. Log in instead, or use a different address." There is already a workspace on that email. Log in with it. If you paid moments ago, the new subscription is attached to that existing workspace, so nothing is lost.
"You're already subscribed. Here's your plan." This workspace already has a subscription. Manage it from the billing page instead.
