Invite codes and activation
Use the invite email to install Hailo, open it in the app or paste the activation code, set your password, and request access if you have no invite.
Hailo workspaces are opened by invite or by starting a plan on the pricing page. This article covers the invite path: the email you receive, how the invite reaches the app, and how to set your password.
The set-a-password step for an invite only appears inside the Mac app. If you open an invite link in a browser, you are sent to the download page instead.
What the invite email contains
The invite email links to a page on hailo.studio titled Get Hailo for Mac with the eyebrow You're invited. It says which email address the invite is for and explains that you activate it and set your password inside the app.
That page has:

The download page can also carry the invite. When you reach hailo.studio/download from an invite, a banner reads: "You're invited. Download Hailo above, then open it in Hailo to set your password. Already installed? Click that now."
Invites stay valid for 14 days.
Activate from the invite link
- Install Hailo. See Install Hailo.
- Go back to the invite page or the download page and click Open in Hailo. macOS may ask whether to open Hailo. Allow it.
- Hailo opens on the set-a-password form with your invited email already filled in.
- Type a password of at least 10 characters, type it again, and submit.
- Hailo opens the onboarding wizard.
Activate by pasting the code
A freshly installed Hailo has no way to know who you are, so the invite email also includes an activation code you can paste inside the app.
- Open Hailo.
- On the sign-in screen, go to Activate your account. The line under the title reads "Paste the activation code from your invite email to set your password."
- Paste the code into Activation code. The placeholder reads "From your invite email".
- Submit. The set-a-password form opens with your email filled in.
- Choose a password of at least 10 characters and confirm it.
The code is case-sensitive. Copy it straight from the email rather than retyping it.
Activate with a 6-digit code
You can also enter your invited email on the front door. Hailo sees the pending invite and emails you a 6-digit code that expires in 10 minutes. See Sign in for the first time for that screen and its messages.
Password rules

If you already used the invite
Opening an invite link a second time shows a short message saying you are already set up and asking you to log in. Your workspace exists. Sign in with your email and password instead of activating again.
If you have no invite
Click Request access on the front door or the login screen. The form is titled Request access with the line "Tell us a little about yourself and we'll reach out."
- Fill in Your name.
- Fill in Email address.
- Optionally answer What do you make? (site, IG, anything).
- Submit.
You see Request received and "Thanks for the interest. We'll be in touch at the email you gave us." Hailo emails the studio owner with your note, and the reply comes to the address you entered.
If it didn't work
"That code didn't match an active invite. Copy it straight from your invite email. It's case-sensitive." The pasted code has a typo, a stray space, or belongs to an invite that expired or was already used. Copy it again from the email. If the invite is older than 14 days, ask for a new one.
"Enter the activation code from your invite email." The field was empty.
The page says "This invite is no longer valid". The invite expired or was revoked. Request a new one.
Open in Hailo does nothing. Hailo is not installed yet, or macOS blocked the hand-off. Install Hailo, open it once, then click Open in Hailo again. If it still does nothing, paste the activation code inside the app instead.
"Enter your name and a valid email address." The request-access form needs both. Check the email for typos.
You reached a page that says Hailo is invite-only. That page appears when you open the sign-up form without an invite. Use the invite link from your email, or request access.
