Find how-to videos and articles on shooting, editing and running the business, search them, and filter by type or category.

Resources is a library of how-to videos and articles for the craft and the business, picked for wedding filmmakers. It sits in the top bar next to Inspiration and Community, outside the three wings, so it is there whichever wing you are in.

The page header reads "Learn the craft." and "How-to videos and articles for shooting, editing, and running the business." A count next to the search box tells you how many resources are in the library.

Find something

  1. Type in Search resources… at the top right. The grid filters as you type across titles, makers and summaries. Click the × in the box to clear it.
  2. Click a category pill under the header to narrow the grid to one topic. Click it again, or the first pill, to see everything.

The categories are Ceremony, Reception, Getting ready, Shooting solo, Gear, Lighting, Audio, Editing, Storytelling, Drone and Business.

Search and category work together: pick Editing and type "colour" to see only editing resources about colour.

What a card shows

Part Meaning
Thumbnail The video's frame or the article's image. Videos show a play mark and a runtime
Title and maker What it is and who made it
Summary One or two lines on what you will learn
Type tag Article, YouTube or Vimeo
Level tag Who it is for, when the resource has one
Topic tags Up to two topic words

Watch or read

  • Click a video card. Where the video can play inside Hailo, it plays in place with a Close player control. Where it cannot, the card reads "Opening on YouTube" and a browser window opens with the video.
  • Click an article card. A browser window opens the article.

Empty states

Message Meaning
"No resources yet" and "Check back soon" The library has nothing in it yet
"Nothing matches" and "Try a different search term or pick a different category." Your search and category leave nothing to show. Clear the search or change the category

Adding your own

Resources is a curated library. You cannot add to it from Hailo. To keep your own list of films worth studying, use Inspiration. To share something with other studios, post it in Community.

  • InspirationKeep a library of wedding films worth studying: add a YouTube or Vimeo film with notes on why it matters, watch it in place, and hide the ones you are done with.
  • CommunityShare a film, ask other studios a question, or post a gig for a second shooter, and use reactions, comments, best answers, raised hands and reports.
  • Finding your way aroundLearn the top bar, the wing switcher, the sidebar in each wing, the dashboard tiles you can rearrange, and what a locked wing looks like.
