Gallery analytics
What Viewers, Plays, Furthest and Downloads mean, and what is coming next.
The Analytics panel answers the question every filmmaker asks after sending a link: did they watch it?
Open the panel
Click the bar icon (Analytics) at the top of the editor. The section is titled Lifetime totals.
The four numbers
| Row | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Viewers | How many different browsers have opened the page. One person refreshing, or coming back next week on the same phone, is one viewer. A new device is a new viewer. |
| Plays | How many times a film was started. |
| Furthest | The deepest point any viewer reached in the film, as a percentage. It only goes up. It tells you whether anyone got to the speeches; it does not claim to know who. |
| Downloads | How many film files were downloaded. A "download all" of four films counts four. |
The same numbers appear on gallery cards in the Galleries list as viewers, plays, % watched and dl.
What is not counted
- Your own visits, plays and downloads, from Hailo or from a plain link in your own browser.
- Any visit to a draft or unpublished gallery.
- Embeds and link-preview crawlers, which cannot hold the viewer marker.
Notifications
The bell fires on the moments that matter: the couple opening the page for the first time, starting the film, reaching the end, downloading, and coming back later. Each fires at most once a day per gallery. See The notification bell.
More signals
A card titled Watch time + heatmap reads: "Per-moment engagement: which seconds get rewatched, where viewers drop off. Coming soon to beta." It is not available yet.
If it didn't work
- Viewers stays at 0 after you sent the link. The gallery may not be published, or they have not opened it. Your own opens never count, so do not test with your own browser and expect a number.
- Plays is higher than Viewers. One person pressed play more than once. That is normal.
