Change your plan
Upgrade, downgrade or switch between monthly and annual billing from the billing page, and when each change takes effect.
You change plans from the plan cards on Settings > Hailo Billing. Moving up happens today and you pay only the difference for the rest of the period. Moving down waits for your renewal date, so you keep what you have already paid for.
Upgrade or downgrade at a glance
| Upgrade (for example Edit to Studio) | Downgrade (for example Pro to Studio) | |
|---|---|---|
| Button on the card | Upgrade to Studio | Switch to Studio |
| Line above the button | "Starts today" | "Starts {renewal date}" |
| When it takes effect | Right away | At the end of the current period |
| What you pay | The prorated difference for the rest of this period, charged now | Nothing now. The new price starts at renewal |
| Your limits | The new limits are live the moment you confirm | Current limits until renewal |
| Message afterwards | "You're on Studio. The new limits are live right now." | "You'll move to Studio on {date}. Nothing changes until then." |
Your new plan is at today's terms and is locked from then on. See Locked terms.
Upgrade
- Open Settings > Hailo Billing and scroll to Change what happens next.
- Choose Monthly or Annual with the toggle above the cards.
- Press Upgrade to {Plan} on the card you want. A sheet titled Switch plan opens.
- Read the two lines. Due today (prorated) shows what you are charged now for the rest of this period. Then shows the new price and your next renewal date. The sheet also says "Your new limits are live the moment you confirm. You only pay the difference for the rest of this billing period."
- Press Confirm and pay. Press Never mind to close without changing anything.
The card on file is charged the prorated amount and the page reloads with "You're on {Plan}. The new limits are live right now." Any wing that was locked is open straight away.
If Hailo cannot work out the prorated figure, the sheet shows Calculated at checkout instead of a number. You can still confirm; Stripe works out the exact proration when it charges.
Downgrade
- On the billing page, press Switch to {Plan} on a card below yours.
- The Switch plan sheet shows the new price under Then with your renewal date, and "This takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep everything you've already paid for until then."
- Press Confirm switch.
The page reloads with "You'll move to {Plan} on {date}. Nothing changes until then." The status chip becomes Changing {date}, the card you chose shows Scheduled with a Starts {date} button, and the timeline's next node reads "{Plan} starts, at $X a month. You keep {Current plan} until then." with a Keep {Current plan} button.
To cancel a scheduled downgrade before it happens, press Keep {Current plan} on the timeline. Nothing else changes.
Downgrading from Studio or Pro to Edit removes the Manage and Deliver wings at renewal. Your leads, clients, invoices and galleries are kept, but you cannot open them, and published galleries stop being reachable, until you are on a plan that includes those wings. See Locked wings.
Switch between monthly and annual
- On your Current plan card, press Switch to annual billing. (To go the other way, set the toggle to Monthly and use the same button, which then reads for monthly.)
- The Switch plan sheet opens with the new interval under Then.
- Press the confirm button.
Switching period is a new purchase at today's rate for that interval. Annual is quoted at today's annual price on every card, including your own, even if your monthly price was locked earlier at a different figure. Annual saves 15%.

Where plan changes do not happen
Stripe's customer portal (behind Payment method & receipts) handles your card and receipts only. It cannot change your plan or cancel it, so you can never end up with two subscriptions. See Update your card and get receipts.
