Buy more hours of footage

Add 2.5 hours of footage for $25 from the billing page or from the out-of-footage dialog, and what happens after you pay.

When a busy month uses up your plan's hours of footage, you can buy a top-up without changing plans. A top-up is 2.5 hours of footage for $25, about one more wedding. It never expires.

Tip

If you find yourself buying top-ups most months, moving up a plan is cheaper. Ten more hours costs $100 in top-ups and $80 a month going from Studio to Pro. See Change plan.

The top-up block

Open Settings > Hailo Billing. The block sits directly under the usage meters and has two versions.

Your footage meter The block reads Button
Under 80% Need more this cycle? "2.5 hours of footage for $25, about one more wedding. It doesn't expire, and a run already going always finishes." Add 2.5 hours · $25
80% or more You're close to your limit for this cycle. "Another 2.5 hours of footage is $25, about one more wedding." Add 2.5 hours · $25, now the primary button

If you already have bought hours, a line adds "You have 2.5 hours of bought footage left." The same balance shows under the footage meter as "Plus 2.5 bought hours that never expire."

The block only appears on plans with a footage limit. Internal unlimited accounts do not see it.

Buy a top-up

  1. Open Settings > Hailo Billing and scroll to the top-up block.
  2. Press Add 2.5 hours · $25. A dialog titled Add footage opens inside Hailo showing $25 and "2.5 more hours of footage, about one more wedding. It doesn't expire."
  3. Fill in the card fields. They are Stripe's own fields drawn inside Hailo's dialog, so your card details never touch Hailo. The card on your subscription is not charged automatically; you enter a card here.
  4. Press Pay $25. The button reads Paying… while Stripe works. If your bank asks you to approve the charge, a browser window opens for that step and returns you to the billing page.
  5. The page reloads with "Footage added. It's on your balance now."

Press Cancel or the Esc key to close the dialog without paying.

From the out-of-footage dialog in Edit

If a run stops because your hours are used up, the Edit wing shows a dialog titled You're out of tokens. with "This cycle's tokens are used up, so the run has paused where it stands. Nothing is lost. Add more and it carries on."

  • Add more · $25 opens the same Add footage dialog as above.
  • See your plan takes you to Hailo Billing.
  • Not now closes the dialog. The run stays paused until your cycle resets or you add hours.

When the hours land

The 2.5 hours are added to your balance when the payment completes on Stripe's side, not when the page reloads. That means:

  • If you close the dialog or leave the page after paying, the hours still land within a minute.
  • If the billing page reloads before Stripe has confirmed, the balance line may lag for a moment. Reload once.
  • The hours are drawn on only after the cycle's own hours are gone, and they never expire.

The two messages

Message Meaning
"Footage added. It's on your balance now." The payment completed and the hours are on your balance.
