Pause, resume and failures

A run can be paused and picked up again at any time, and when something goes wrong Hailo stops with a message that says what happened. Every stage that finished is saved, so resuming never starts over.

Pause a run

Click the pause icon at the end of the progress bar. Its tooltip reads "Pause at the next stage boundary. State is saved; resume any time." Hailo finishes the step it is on, then stops; the quip line reads "Pausing, finishing current step, then stopping." while it winds down. The launchpad tile then reads Paused mid-analysis.

Resume a run

Any of these picks a paused run up from the last completed step:

• Click the icon again (it now shows play).
• Open the project from its launchpad tile, or click Resume analysis on the couple's Edit hub. A paused project resumes on its own when you open it, with the quip "Resuming your analysis…".
• Open Hailo again after quitting mid-run. The run that was live resumes by itself.

Every path is incremental: stages already done are skipped.

Continue and Try Again

When a run is interrupted rather than paused by you (Hailo was closed, the Mac slept, the connection dropped), the card shows an amber banner with Continue and Start Over. Continue resumes from the last completed step. Start Over begins a new project.

When a run fails, the card shows Analysis stopped with the cause, and a Try Again button. Its caption reads "Picks up from the last completed step." It never re-runs the stages that already finished.

If a run keeps stopping at the same place, Hailo stops retrying on its own after a few attempts and the card reads "Analysis keeps stopping" with the advice to check your internet, then hit Continue.

Losing your connection

Most network drops do not fail the run. Hailo pauses it with the message "Connection lost" and the note that your analysis is saved and will pick up where it left off when you are back online. The tile reads Paused mid-analysis, and the run resumes on its own once Hailo can reach the cloud again. See Offline and reconnecting.

When the token balance runs out

If your monthly balance reaches zero before the step that spends tokens, the run pauses there rather than failing:

Your plan's monthly analysis budget is used up. This run is paused before Hailo labels anything. It resumes automatically when your cycle resets, or reach out to raise the limit.

Buy more hours or wait for the reset, then reopen the project; it re-checks the balance and continues. See Tokens and run cost.

The failure screens

Message	What it means	What to do
Couldn't start	Hailo could not reach the service that labels footage, so it stopped at 0 percent before doing any work. The most common cause reads: "This copy of Hailo is missing a component it needs to label footage. Update Hailo to the latest version, then hit Try Again."	Update Hailo (see Updates), check your internet, then click Try Again.
Classification failed	The labeling step finished without labeling a single clip, so Hailo refused to build a timeline from unlabeled footage. The message reads "Classification finished without labeling a single clip" followed by the advice to try again or re-analyze from scratch.	Click Try Again first. If it fails the same way, use Re-analyze from scratch (see Re-analyzing).
Something went wrong	An unexpected error in the run. The card shows the detail, or "Something interrupted the run. Your finished work is saved" with a reminder that Try Again picks up from the last completed step.	Check your internet and that the footage drive is still connected, then click Try Again.

In every case, the work done so far is kept.

Quick reference

Troubleshooting

Try Again fails at the same stage every time. Check the drive is connected and that no clip in the folder is corrupted (the LATEST cell names the clip it stopped on). Move that clip out of the folder and try again, or re-analyze from scratch.

The run says paused but I never paused it. That is the interrupted state after a quit, sleep or dropped connection. Open the project and it resumes.
