Install and first launch
What happens the first time Hailo opens, and why opening it a second time brings the running copy forward instead of starting another.

The first launch, in order
- A dark hold screen with the Hailo mark appears at once.
- Hailo starts its footage engine in the background.
- Hailo looks in Applications and your user Applications folder for an older copy of itself. If it finds one, it asks Finder to move it to the Trash. If you decline the permission, Hailo shows a one-time message with a Show me button instead. See Two copies of Hailo.
- Hailo installs its menu bar timer so it starts at login. See The menu bar time agent.
- The window loads the sign-in screen. See Sign in for the first time.
On later launches with Keep me logged in left on, step 5 opens straight into your dashboard.
One Hailo at a time
Hailo runs as a single instance. If you open it again while it is already running (from the Dock, Launchpad, Spotlight or a second click in Applications), the running window comes to the front. No second copy starts and nothing is reset.
This also means a Dock click while Hailo is busy behind another app brings the existing window forward.
If it didn't work
The hold screen never changes. Hailo could not reach its cloud pages. Check your connection, then quit and reopen. See Offline and reconnecting.
