Log out, and sign out everywhere
What Log out does on the Mac app, and how to revoke every remembered device at once.
Logging out ends your session on the Mac in front of you. Signing out everywhere, so that no Mac can get back in without a fresh login and two-factor code, is done by resetting your password.
Log out on this Mac
- Open the avatar menu in the top bar.
- Press Log out.
You land on the login screen with "You've been logged out." and your email already filled in. On a Mac that remembers you, the Use Touch ID button is still there.
What Log out does and does not do on the Mac app:
| Ends the session | Yes. Every screen needs a login again. |
| Stops Hailo signing you in on its own at the next launch | Yes. After a logout, Hailo waits at the login screen until you log in with Touch ID or your password. |
| Forgets the remembered login | No. Touch ID keeps working on this Mac. |
| Revokes the 30-day two-factor trust | No. The next login on this Mac still skips the code. |
| Affects other Macs | No. |
To make this one Mac forget you completely, use Forget this Mac under Settings > Account > This Mac. See Touch ID.
Sign out of every device
Hailo has no list of sessions or devices to revoke one at a time. To cut off every Mac at once, reset your password:
- On the login screen, press Forgot? and request a reset link, or open Settings > Account and press Send reset link under Password.
- Set a new password from the link. See Reset your password.
A reset forgets every trusted device, everywhere you have signed in. Each Mac has to log in with the new password, and with two-factor on, complete an emailed code again. A Mac that had Touch ID set up loses its remembered login until you log in there with the new password.
Turning two-factor off from Settings > Account > Manage also forgets every trusted device, but it leaves the old password working, so a reset is the right tool if you think someone else has it.
If you think your account is compromised
- Reset your password from a Mac you control.
- Turn on two-factor if it is off, and make a fresh set of recovery codes if it is on. See Two-factor authentication and Recovery codes.
- Check the email on your account under Settings > Account. Changing it needs approval from both inboxes, so it cannot have been moved without you. See Change the email on your account.
- Check Settings > Integrations for anything connected that you do not recognise, and disconnect it.
- Contact support from Feedback in the sidebar if anything looks wrong.
