The speeches film

The speeches film finds every toast in the reception footage and gives you one film per speaker, trimmed to where the speech starts and ends and synced to the recorder. You build it from the film builder by clicking Make speeches film or Speeches film on a couple's Edit hub.

What counts as a toast

Hailo picks out each real toast and skips the music, the ambient chatter and anything no camera was on. A toast that happened while every camera was off will not come back, and neither will very short remarks such as a few seconds of thanks.

Each toast Hailo finds becomes its own film.

For Stack the angles and Multicam, Hailo syncs the takes long enough to hold a toast and leaves the short b-roll out, which is why pointing it at the reception cameras is fast.

One film per toast

Every toast lands in its own folder inside the folder you chose under Save to, named for the speaker where Hailo can tell, for example a numbered folder ending in "jackson_speech". Each folder holds that toast's timeline. A combined "All Speeches" timeline is written alongside them so you can open the whole run at once.

On the done screen, Open in Premiere (or your editor) opens the combined timeline. Reveal in Finder shows the folders.

Audio is always normalised

The speeches film always evens out the loudness. There is no Normalize audio switch for speeches; it is hidden on the film builder. The levelled recorder sits on A1 and camera audio stays muted underneath each clip.

What lands in your editor

One camera	Each toast found and trimmed from your main camera, synced to the recorder audio. No multi-angle sync, so it is much faster.

The No separate recorder switch works for speeches too. Turn it on when the toasts were recorded into the cameras rather than a separate recorder.

Where it shows in Manage

While a build runs, the couple's launchpad tile shows Building film. When it finishes, the tile reads Speeches film built (or Films built when a ceremony film exists too), and the couple's Edit hub lists a Speeches film row with Open in editor and the folder path.

If it didn't work

What you see	What to do
A toast is missing	It was too short, had no camera on it, or was mostly music. Add it by hand from the stacked timeline.
Two speakers ended up in one film	They spoke back to back with no gap. Split the timeline at the handover in your editor.
"Only one camera here. Stacking needs at least two - add another camera, or switch to One camera."	Add a second camera folder or switch to One camera.
The build takes a very long time	You pointed Cameras at the whole day. Point it at the reception cameras only.
