The Edit launchpad
Find your way around the Edit wing's home screen, the usage meter, the project tiles and the per-couple Edit hub.
The Edit launchpad is the first screen you see when you switch to the Edit wing. It shows your usage for the month, the projects you were working on most recently, and a card for every way to start new work. Every couple you edit for also gets an Edit hub of their own, one level down from the launchpad.
The Edit wing works only inside the Hailo desktop app. Manage and Deliver work anywhere you sign in. See Edit lives in the Desktop App below.
The header
The launchpad opens with the line "Drop the footage. I'll handle the rest." and a short summary: Hailo watches every clip, sorts the day, and hands back a first cut. Pick up a project below, or start something new.
The footage pill
On plans with a monthly token allowance, a pill in the top right of the header reads Footage, with a small meter and the minutes used of the allowance. Paid plans with no allowance cap do not show the pill at all.
Click the pill to open the usage popover.

The hours calculator
Type the length of a wedding's footage into the Hours field and the popover tells you how many tokens that run will use. The field starts at 2.5 hours (which reads "150 tokens"), accepts anything from 0.5 to 40 hours in half-hour steps, and updates as you type. One hour of analyzed footage is 60 tokens.
Only footage Hailo analyzes counts. Folders you label long-form, drone or action camera, and anything you exclude, cost nothing, and resolution never changes the price. Read Tokens and run cost for the full picture, including how the estimate on the intake screen relates to this calculator.
Press Escape or click anywhere outside the popover to close it.
Pick up where you left off
Under the header, a row of up to four tiles shows the projects you touched most recently, newest first. A tile appears for:
- every couple with an analysis on this Mac,
- couples you have built a ceremony, speeches or blueprint film for but not analyzed,
- any analysis on disk that is not attached to a couple yet (the live run always, plus anything touched in the last seven days),
- footage you offloaded from cards.
Each tile carries the couple's name, a cover image, a meta line and a status chip.
The cover image
When the analysis has found a good frame of the couple, that frame becomes the tile's cover. You can replace it with any image (see Tile buttons). Covers are kept on this Mac, so a tile keeps its picture even when the footage drive is unplugged.
The meta line
The meta line lists what exists for the couple, for example "312 clips · 1 film · 1 building". A couple with nothing yet reads No work yet. Offload tiles read N cards, Copying footage while a copy is running, or Footage on disk when it is finished.
Chip states

A tile with Analyzing now also shows a thin progress bar with the percent and current phase, for example "42% · Studying Every Scene". That bar is a snapshot from the moment the launchpad loaded; open the project to watch it move.
Where a tile takes you
- A couple's tile opens their Edit hub.
- An Offloading now tile opens the copy screen so you can watch the transfer.
- A Building film tile for a couple with no analysis opens the film build screen directly.
- A tile with no couple attached opens the project itself.
Tile buttons
Hover a tile to reveal three small buttons in its corner.

If you try to save an empty name, Hailo says "The name cannot be empty." If the rename cannot be saved, it says "Could not reach the server. Please try again."
The action cards
Below the tiles, one card for each way to start work. Cards marked Beta are new and still being refined.

The per-couple Edit hub
Click a couple's tile to open their Edit hub. Everything Hailo has made for that couple lives here.
Header and stats
- Edit launchpad in the top left takes you back.
- The couple's name, with their wedding date under it (for example "Friday, June 6, 2026"). When no date is set, the line reads "Everything you've edited for this couple".
- Three stats: N clips sorted, N films built, and the path to their source footage (or the last output folder). With nothing attached yet, the path reads Nothing linked yet.
The Footage analysis card
This card is the door to the whole analysis workspace: the clip grid, the timeline, the build log and every deliverable.
Its meta line reads "N clips ·" followed by one of Analyzing now · N%, Ready to cut, Paused mid-analysis or Not started. It reflects the live run, so it always agrees with the launchpad chip.
Buttons:
- Open in {editor} (for example Open in Premiere): shown once the analysis is complete and you have chosen an editor. It builds this project's timeline in your editor and opens it.
- The primary button reads View progress while a run is going, Open the workspace when it is complete, and Resume analysis when it is paused or not started.
- The ... menu holds Reveal source footage and Delete this analysis (see Deleting a project).
A couple with no analysis sees No footage sorted, the line "Pull the selects and drop the shaky takes from a camera's card", and a Sort footage button that opens intake for them.
Status messages for this card (for example while a timeline builds in your editor) appear directly under it.
Footage
When this couple has offloaded card footage beyond the folder that was analyzed, a Footage section lists those folders, each with a Reveal in Finder button.
Film and blueprint cards
One card per film. The card's meta line depends on its state:

Blueprint rows list that couple's saved studio builds underneath. Each film card's ... menu offers Reveal in Finder and Delete this film.
With no films yet, the card reads No films yet followed by "These selects are ready to cut from." (analysis complete) or "Sort a camera's footage first, then build a cut."
The Make rail
At the bottom, three starters for this couple:
- Ceremony film: "A timeline built from the ceremony cameras."
- Speeches film: "Every toast, cut from the speech audio."
- Blueprint edit: "Build to the shape of a reference edit."
These start a build on your Mac. If you opened Hailo at app.hailo.studio instead of the desktop app, the buttons tell you they need the desktop app rather than failing silently.
Edit lives in the Desktop App
When you open the Edit workspace, Hailo first shows Reaching Hailo… while it checks that the editing engine on your Mac is awake.
If you opened Hailo at app.hailo.studio rather than in the desktop app, you see the screen Edit lives in the Desktop App. Click Open Desktop App to switch over. If you have not installed it yet, follow Download for Mac. Manage and Deliver keep working wherever you are.
Inside the desktop app, the same screen appears for a moment when the engine is still starting, with the line Reconnecting to the editor… instead of a button. Hailo reconnects on its own and swaps to the workspace as soon as the engine answers. If it never does, see Edit won't open.
Attach this footage to a couple
When you open the Edit workspace from a couple whose record is not yet linked to an analysis, a pill at the top reads Attach this footage to {couple}. Click it once the footage is loaded and Hailo links the current project to that couple, so opening them next time picks up right here. The pill never appears on the ceremony or speeches film screens, because a film build does not create an analysis project to attach.
Troubleshooting
The usage pill is missing. Your plan has no monthly token cap, so there is nothing to meter. Your billing page still shows what you have used.
A tile I deleted came back. Deleting from the launchpad removes the tile everywhere, so this should not happen. If it does, open the tile's hub and use Delete this analysis, then send feedback so it can be looked at.
A couple's tile shows Not started but I ran an analysis. The analysis may be attached to a different project for the same couple. Open the hub; the Footage analysis card reflects whatever is on disk for that couple.
The tile's progress bar is stuck. It is a snapshot from page load. Open the project to see live progress.
