An analysis paused, stopped or failed

You came back to a project and the progress card is not moving. It says Paused mid-analysis, or it shows an amber banner, or it reads Analysis stopped with a reason under it.

Why

Every finished stage of a run is written to disk as it completes. So a run never dies, it stops. Picking it up again always starts from the last stage that finished, and the clips already labeled are never paid for or processed twice.

There are five reasons a run stops, and the card tells you which one you have.

The budget ran out

A run starts even when it needs more tokens than you have, because reading the footage, checking sharpness and listening to audio are free and happen first. It pauses at the step that spends tokens.

1. Look at the Footage pill on the Edit launchpad. It shows the minutes used of this month's allowance.
2. Click it to see how much of the month you have used and the date it resets.
3. Either wait for the reset or add more. Inside Edit the dialog is titled You're out of tokens. with "This cycle's tokens are used up, so the run has paused where it stands. Nothing is lost. Add more and it carries on." and the buttons Add more · $25, See your plan and Not now.
4. Reopen the project. Hailo re-checks the balance and carries on from where it stopped.

Your internet dropped

Most network drops do not fail a run. Hailo pauses it, shows "Connection lost" with a note that your analysis is saved and will pick up where it left off when you are back online, and the launchpad tile reads Paused mid-analysis. It resumes on its own.

Hailo was closed mid-run

Quitting Hailo while a run is going stops it. Hailo warns you first: a dialog titled A pipeline is still running says "Hailo is mid-analysis on a project. Quitting now kills the run. Progress is saved up to the last finished stage, but the rest starts over next time." Quitting a second time within 30 seconds goes through without asking again.

What you get back when you reopen Hailo:

• Every stage that had finished is kept, along with the project, its labels so far and the footage you offloaded.
• The stage that was in progress runs again from its start.
• The run that was live resumes by itself when you open Hailo.

The three failure messages

Message	What it means	What to do
Couldn't start	The run stopped at 0 percent, before any work was done. The usual reason reads "This copy of Hailo is missing a component it needs to label footage. Update Hailo to the latest version, then hit Try Again."	Install the waiting update (see Updates), check your internet, then click Try Again
Classification failed	The labeling step finished without labeling a single clip, so Hailo refused to build a timeline from unlabeled footage. The message reads "Classification finished without labeling a single clip"	Click Try Again first. If it fails the same way, use Re-analyze from scratch
Something went wrong	An unexpected error. The card shows the detail, or "Something interrupted the run. Your finished work is saved"	Check your internet, and check the footage drive is still plugged in, then click Try Again

Try Again always picks up from the last completed step. Its caption says so.

Try Again or Re-analyze from scratch

These are not the same thing and the difference is money.

Re-analyze from scratch (relabels every clip) sits under the progress card on a finished project and asks to confirm first. See Re-analyzing.

When to delete and start over

Deleting is the right move when the project itself is in a state you no longer want, not when a run has stopped once.

• Stop and delete this analysis, at the bottom of the progress card while a run is going, asks "Stop the run and delete it? Everything worked out so far goes. Your footage stays where it is." Click Delete or Keep it.
• On a finished project the same button reads Delete this analysis.
• Your video files are never touched by any of this, and neither are the couple's record in Manage or their gallery in Deliver.

Do this if you offloaded the wrong folder, picked the wrong couple, or want to start the whole thing again with different folder labels. See Deleting a project.

If it didn't work

Try Again fails at the same stage every time. Check the drive is plugged in and that no clip in the folder is damaged. The LATEST cell on the progress card names the clip it stopped on. Move that clip out of the folder and try again, or re-analyze from scratch.

The card says paused but you never paused it. That is the interrupted state after a quit, a sleep or a dropped connection. Open the project and it resumes.

It says "Analysis keeps stopping". Hailo gives up retrying on its own after a few attempts. Check your internet, click Continue, and if it stops again write in.

Hailo will not quit so you can restart it. Force-quit from the Apple menu. The analysis resumes from its last finished stage the next time you open the project.
